Interesting little nugget today.

Looks like one of the reason he didn't come here was we have the oldest QB in the NFL.

“Obviously, he’s the G.O.A.T. That’s that simple,” Humphries said of Brady. “But there’s so much that factors into a decision. It was a four-year deal. Who knows how many (years) he’s got left? There’s a lot that goes into it."

“There were a ton of pros and not a lot of cons,” Humphries said of making his decision. “You have to look at both situations and a quality of life and where you’re living, state taxes. A lot of things go into it when you’re talking with your agents and families and stuff about it. At the end of the day, my heart wanted to be in Tennessee. I was happy to finally have that all over with and have a team I could commit to and try my best for them.

“I felt like my talents would be used best here. And New England was the same way. That would have worked, too, but at the end of the day, it was a good decision to come here.”

TN actually has higher income taxes (6% to 5.05%) and sales tax (6.25% to 7%) than MA

EDIT- they tax bonds, stocks, etc- not income tax

His loss.

Adam Humphries says he chose Titans over Patriots because of Tom Brady's age

This would make sense if he had gone to a team with some young star QB. As of now he’s playing with a bum who literally might not have a starting job by week 8.

By the way I think hes just trying to rationalize his mistake.
Because Mariotta hasnt been a guy who any sane Wide receiver would say I want to play for him.
I look foward to seeing a bitter Mike Vrabel being a NFL analyst interviewing TB and BB after their 9th Superbowl victory and hes unemployed after the Tits fail to make the next playoffs over the next 5 years.

I'll look forward to watching this guy and Dion the Schmuck (180 degrees different from the classy way Malcolm Butler handled things) fall on their faces in Tennessee this year.

I still think the main reasons he stayed was TN offered more money, closer to home in SC and the relationship he had with Jon Robinson from TB. He might have said it tongue and cheek as anyone who seriously rationalizes a better career trajectory with Marcus Mariota over Tom Brady over the next 48 months or the Tits over the Patriots is a freaking idiot.

Sounds to me like he is having remorse not signing with New England and this is how he is coping with it. There's less certainty with the Titans QB situation than there is Pats.

According to Giradi Patriots outbid Titans.

Imagine choosing not to sign with NE specifically because of Tom Brady.

Tennessee doesn't tax salary incomes. Only stocks/bonds/notes/interest/dividend earnings.

I think they call it the Hall Tax or something like that. Further, I believe they voted to repeal it, a percentage at a time, over the next 6 years.

Next thing you know key free agents won't come here because the coach is 67.

Income tax aside, I agree with others, this seems like a "i need to stretch the point because I may have made a mistake"

I don't begrudge players for taking more money; I do it in my career and I don't make nearly what they do.

But winning is important to competitive types and, over the life of that deal, I don't think many would argue he would win more there vs here.

That explains why he went with the Tits even though the Pats offered more. Hope he enjoys getting killed by Mariota laying him out to dry (or whoever throws him the ball after Mariota gets injured again).

I have seen reports that the Pats offered $10m per.

Assuming that is accurate, 4/40 with $21M guaranteed(?)

He got 4/36/19 from the Titans

If we pretend over the course of 4 years, he would have earned the entirety of either deal.

He would have paid ~$2m on $40M if he lived in MA.

So he traded ~$38M and Tom Brady for $36M and Hands of Nerve.

Plus endorsements he would land in NE
