NBA Draft - Trades - Free Agents

Zion needs to personally call the Pelicans and tell him he won’t play for them.

I disagree. The Bucks can beat the Warriors.

I agree. It won't be a sweep.

Maybe the Bucks can even win two if they are lucky.

The problem with that is what happens if they call his bluff? Neither LA nor NY - his 2 preferred destinations - stand a chance of trading for him.

Even if he *does* go back to Duke, he’s taking a huge chance that next year he is in the same position.

The sooner he joins the league, the sooner he will hit free agency. No sense wasting a year of his life.

That's nothing more than an intellectually bankrupt clickbait headline. There is nothing out there to suggest he is planning to go back to Duke. Yes, the option still exists so to say he "might" go back to Duke is like saying he "might" go to Italy: technically possible but not backed up by a darn thing.

Wasn't there a report from earlier in the week (pre lottery selection) that said that Zion had to be talked out of going back to Duke for another season?

People were even calling Coach K a Sorcerer because even the mere thought of going back to college for Zion seemed insane.

Assuming there is even a nugget of truth to that report, coupled with where he will now team wise get selected, it may not be as far fetched as it seems.

I know my Dookie fan friends down here would love it.

EDIT TO ADD - Here is the report - BELIEVE THE HYPE: Zion Williamson Is Gonna Shock the World

“He waited until the last minute to do it. He really, really didn’t want to say goodbye,” says Anderson. “But he knew that the time had come for him to do that. He was a little bit remorseful about doing it. He was just kind of sad. We kept calling him and saying, ‘Hey Zion, you have a deadline to meet. You need to make sure you get it done by this time.’ He’d say, ‘Don’t worry. I’ll get it. I’ll do it.’ He wasn’t in no hurry to get it done. So I just told my wife to let him be. Give him time.”

Adds Zion, “When I was by myself, I was like, You know what? Maybe. What would be the worst if I came back for a second year? And my teammates [would] look at me and go, ‘We know you love this place but you gotta do what’s best for you and your family. Nobody is going to hate you for this.’

“I remember I was doing my video announcing I was declaring for the draft. And I didn’t want to do the video. I don’t want to leave. I love everything about Duke. If people think I’m BS-ing or not telling the truth—that’s them.”

Looks like he’s okay with playing there according to his step Dad.

Motherf***

Draymond Green without KD and having decided to stop *****ing to the refs is a monster. Holy ****, these last two games by him were incredible.

Regards,
Chris

Blazers really choked this away. Had big leads in three of these games and blew them all.

Getting swept by a KD-less Warriors? Come on.

Dray & Steph the first two teammates ever with a triple double in the same playoff game. Incredible.

Respect.

That Warriors style of basketball is beautiful at least in my opinion. The ball just keeps moving and Steph is a killer.

I do not think Bucks or Raptors are able to threaten Warriors in the final. Even without KD they are still a contender. I hope after this season the Warriors' saga will end when KD and Thompson leaves during FA.

There is no way they can keep both, right?

Thanks for nothing Portland. Still pissed at ya for blowing that 13 pt lead in game 7 at LA in 2000 , glad you’re still just as gutless

Truly I am not so familiar with the salary cap in NBA to give you a precise answer. However reading articles about financial chances of The Warriors to keep them both there is a slender possibility. KD according to many journalists is strongly interested in changing the surrounding ( NY is a possible destination ). Additionally in 2020 Green will be a FA as well and certainly he is going to demand a big contract. We will see what happens but I believe in KD's leaving.
Speaking of Thompson I am not so sure he is going to be all the time in the shadow of Curry. I like him a lot and trust he could be a leader somewhere else.

the basic gist of the NBA cap is that it's a soft cap which only allows you to go over the cap to resign your own players........and that once you're over the cap, there's a luxury tax

then there's the supermax deal that allow you to beat any other team by $70M to keep your own player. At the end of the day, for Kyrie to leave, he would need to be willing to forgo that $70M

You think we’d offer kyrie Supermax?

The NBA cap structure is among the worst in sports.

He’s going to LA to play with LeBron.

I'd be shocked if the Bucks or Raptors won more than a game.

I’m more pissed LA let it get to that point as they were up 3-1 going back to LA.

Any chance the NBA Finals outdraws the Stanley Cup Finals in Boston? I am assuming it's not gonna happen.
