2018 Defense vs 2019 Defense

2019 has proven nothing. The 2018 shut down consecutive teams with high powered offenses in the last (and most important) two games of the season. In fact, after KC v LAR, the entire sports world was going on about how that game changed the NFL forever... and them, boom. NE's D takes their lunch money. And the title.

"On paper" doesn't interest me, so until we see something in 2019, it'll be a hard 2018 is better for me.

I don’t think statically they will be ranked that high because they just aren’t designed that way, but they look better on paper. With that being said, there are a few questions:

-Is Pennel an upgrade over Brown?

-Is Pennel an upgrade over Brown?

-Does Bennett have enough in the tank for us to forget about Flowers next year?
-Has Wise hit his ceiling?
-Will Rivers show us anything or will he be pushed out by Winovich or even Cowart?
Hard to guess exactly what they’d get for him, though. Belichick would have to sell low, and that wouldn’t really make much sense, either.

success with UDFA messes with the equation........but just as with Cyrus Jones, he'll get a chance to compete in training camp.....hell, look how long this team held onto jordan richards

I don’t think anyone outside of this forum has given much thought to cutting Duke Dawson after selecting him in the 2nd round, last spring. I would imagine that he’ll be a part of the team.
