Were you alive for the steroid era in baseball? Every record is now tainted and the sport has been ruined in many ways. Letting it go would possibly level the paying field, but this would just encourage sports to become about which chemicals can top the previous ones.

The NFL has this one right.

Every passing record in the NFL is meaningless due to rule changes.

Ratings were never higher for baseball than they were for the 'steroid era'. The stars were never bigger. By taking it steroids out of the game, people are far less likely to sit through a 4 hour game when it's 3-2, than they were when it was 11-9 with 4 home runs every game.

They ruined the game themselves.

I was not defending Lewis, just using the race as an example. You have failed on the victimless standard. Let's say there are no drug restrictions in the future. Do you think there will be drug competition? There will be collateral damage in the form of sickness and death. Records will be shattered as human endurance becomes chemical endurance. I want performance based on athletic achievement and not chemical achievement. Taking PEDs is an ethical argument and that is not an opinion.

That's the tradeoff.

Athletes know what they're getting into when they take this stuff. Any sickness or death is something they're solely responsible for.

I see nothing wrong with drug competition. I'd rather see steroid ads than erectile dysfunction ads any day.

And as I just said previously, records are pretty meaningless now in several sports.

I want my team to win, and I want to see great players doing their best. Until you can outlaw every last instance of PEDs, with REAL consequences - a 4 YEAR ban instead of a 4-game ban, it's lip service, and specifically, lip service toward people like yourself.

PEDs are victimless, because the athletes know what they're doing. You completely ignored my example. You brought up Ben Johnson. Every. Single. Sprinter. was eventually popped/suspended/banned for PEDs in their career. Some going into the race already had (Lewis).

It was a totally even playing field. It's naive to think otherwise.

I’m open minded about PEDs and steroids. I think they should be allowed for injury recovery, and while the health effects are bad, they are not as exaggerated devastating as perceived (I mean, people take a lot sht legally that are destroying their bodies.)

But you need to draw a line in competitive sports, just like there are rules in any type of competition. You’re pretty passionate about this, but are you sure am all-out free for all in PEDs is really what you want?

Wait, was Calvin Smith ever popped for drugs? To my recollection he was the only clean sprinter in the race that finished in the top 5. He should be wearing a gold medal instead of a bronze one.
