What is the story with Xavier Ubosi now?

As of two days ago, cbs still claimed he was expected to sign here.

A few years ago, the big, slow wr out of ole miss tweeted that he’d signed here but it never materialized. I wonder if that’ll happen here again.

Yeah the Ubosi situation is weird. UAB congratulated him on signing with the Pats. Yet all of the UDFAs are on the Pat’s roster on their website EXCEPT Ubosi. My thoughts are, it fell through. Which is a shame because he is a helluva talent, a raw prospect for sure, but he’s big kid with good hands and decent speed.

Medical?

They did the same with Jacob fragile Hollister:rolleyes: and look how he turned out.

Xavier Ubosi has now signed, according to everybody all at once on Twitter.

He may be a one trick pony at the moment, but it's a good trick.

Why aren't you "sold" on Wynn? His height???? That ridiculous analysis. Wynn has already played against a lot of the so called elite edge guys playing in the SEC and was outstanding against them. It ON tape. Why wouldn't he succeed now? 2 or 3 inches of height has almost NOTHING to do with being able to pass block. Quickness, agility, timing, and footwork are all INFINITELY more important and its in THOSE key areas that Wynn excelled and why the Pats took him at #23.

Sorry but all the questions I hear about Wynn are starting to wear down my well known patience.

I guess the signing of 6'8" 315lb OT Jacob Veldheer pretty much reinforces my concerns about Wynn's size at LT.

Stop worrying about SIZE. Think about who he will be playing against when Brady has to drop back. In 2019 most of the DE/OLB's will weigh in the 250-275 range. Wynn will STILL be bigger and stronger than most of the people he'll play against. And the reason he'll succeed at the position will be because of his extraordinary athleticism. Speed rushers are now the norm. You NEED someone who has the ability to deal with these guys. Wynn is that kind of player.

Shaq Mason is short as well. You want to upgrade him too? Maybe you should think about the advantages that a more COMPACT player can bring to the challenges they see in 2019.

And don't make too much of Veldheer's size. He might be 6 inches taller, but he's only about 20lbs heavier (assuming Wynn has stayed at the 295 he came into the league as...which I doubt)

Bottom line Veldheer is a perfect swing tackle prospect at this stage of his career, I think he might be a small upgrade on Waddle. He's started over 130 games in the NFL. And while he might not be a top OT, you don't last that long in the league if you just flat out suck.

Assuming he's healthy (and I don't know that for sure), I'd be willing to put up REAL money that Wynn will be the Starting LT in September.

You overrate the average Trent Brown and underrate Wynn who had terrific film coming out of college. Health is the concern not height.

Not really - they needed a third tackle, preferably a vet, and he was by far the best currently available.

Totally agree.
I don’t think the Patriots said “we need a 6’ 8” left tackle.” If they did that would have happened earlier in free agency. I think they said “we need a backup swing tackle but not so badly that we risk losing one of those sixth round compensatory picks” and then took the best available as of May 7th.
