What Can the Patriots Realistically Expect From Demaryius Thomas?

Expecting Gordon to be there for the playoffs is a big ask.

Good point. Several posters have written high hopes for him in several threads.
Believe it when you see it friends...

Im keeping my expectations pretty low. Something like 1500 yards and 12 tds. Anything more would be gravy

Expecting anything from Gordon in 2019 is a big ask.

Point taken but one unique thing about Flash Gordon is how well he takes care of his body football wise he ain't some Fat don't care Kat! Would love a Full TC with him and Brady. Still have nightmares of Patterson muffing those Slants in the AFC-CGame.

My realistic expectations are for at least
One hall of fame type season

I think his ceiling is 2018 Chris Hogan production. His floor is he hangs it up in August ala Eric Decker.

Hogan is not even 70% the player DT still was with the Texans. He is a better route runner, has a bigger catch radius, better hands and can use his body more decisively when it comes to contested catches.

This downplaying DTs abilities and others calling him soft even though nobody can point out what that specifically means is getting silly.

Yes, the achilles is a risk hence the favorable contract. But if he can get through that he will be a very productive player.

It all depends on how the rehab goes. I guess there is a silver lining in that its his second acchilles repair because he knows how hard it will be to come back. I can say from experience, that injury is no joke. I did it years ago and I'm still not close to 100%.

Bill is the best Ever but he loves low balling toms weapons so they leave/don’t sign and the old man gets stuck throwing to JAGS

Most of us would be fine with one #2/#3 WR out of Gordon and DT.

Dorset will outplay Moss this year .., rofl

The first attempt was thrown behind him; the miss was more Brady's fault than Patterson's.

The second attempt was more on Patterson, but the hit he absorbed should've been called for Unsportsmanlike Conduct.

I could see 40 catches for 500 yards and 5tds. I think he starts the season on PUP/and or gets suspended. I think we may see him AND Gordon in the lineup in game 9. I’m guessing Gordon will be suspended 8 games.

100 receptions
2000 yards
20 touchdowns

I actually had some disagreeing when I said Gordon cannot be counted on. Even Gordon would agree with that.

May fizzle out like reggie Wayne did

What makes you say "even Gordon would agree with that"? There's no way of knowing where he's at mentally/psychologically.

If you want to argue that it seems unlikely Gordon can be counted on -- fine, history has indicated as much.

But to say with certainty that Gordon cannot be counted on is unfair to him. Sometimes those with addiction are able to permanently kick the habit and move forward in a positive way. It's a tough journey and the odds may seem long, but it has happened before and I'm rooting like hell for Gordon to make a successful recovery.

There’s nothing unfair about saying Gordon can’t be counted upon, he can’t, it’s a fact. I like Gordon and I’m rooting for him, but the idea he can be counted upon is simply not true. I would love to see him get his s.t together and finish his career here without another suspension but he will have to prove it for about 3 seasons continuously before he will have demonstrated that he’s reliable.

Gordon if available is a good # 2 WR on this team, with the potential to be a #1, however he has to be treated as though he’s a #6 because no one has any idea if he will play at all, let alone a full season, or anything in between. I think they have to treat WR as if he isn’t in the roster, fill the unit out completely and then hope he can be a bonus. Treating it as though he’s gojng to be ready, available, and a consistent factor would be folly.

It’s unfair to him? Not sure how one correlates to the other. He could be the nicest guy in the world but there’s no way in hell any team could count on him.
