Are we getting carried away with ourselves? Are we getting ahead of ourselves? How do we appear to non-Patriots fans who read out board?

Should we try to be more humble as fans? Or, have we earned the right to be boastful because of the way our team has beeen treated by the media, non-Patriots fans, and the NFL community?

These are all questions to ponder as we move forward. Perhaps a poll would be a guide to how we are viewing ourselves at this time.

No. Fans have no responsibility to be humble.

Players should be humble.

Fans by definition are optimistic and one-sided.

GO PATS! 16-0!!

Absolutely NOT.

We need to let the fans of other towns understand fully how great this machine of ours is.

We are the greatest team of all time and this year will prove it.

When all is said and done - they can all eat our shorts and choke on all their insults and little jokes over the past month or so about our team.

They can hate us all they want - I for one am loving it, their utter jealousy is clear for all to see.

These days wont last forever... I remember all to well how it felt to be ****-kicking cellar-dwellers.

You guys can be humble all you want... Im "livin la vida loca" for as long as this ride lasts!!!

If people dont like it, I have a little saying that I like to use... "OH WELL, TACO BELL".

Chances are we wont ever get to enjoy something like this again in our lifetime. Soak for all it's worth baby!! :rocker: :rocker: :rocker:

Force other fans around the league to "EAT IT"!!

Well I tried to post a poll but I guess I have to humble myself and post it within 5 friggin minutes of the thread!

It was an awesome poll too.

Try again..I would like that..

This is a weird time in team history in that after being the underdog and getting admired for how the team does business, now they've gotten backlash.

I prefer being quiet and letting the team's record speak for itself. Then getting noisy in February. :singing:

Can't do it. Once 5 min 1 sec passes, it won't let you.

Unless I do a separate thread and then get this one merged with it.

Humble thread poll

Mod's please merge the other "humble" thread with this one.

To be quite honest, I think you do, Patsnut.

I don the sack cloth and ashes and flog myself regularly.

As a recovering Red Sox fan,I know I don't deserve this team and expect to be punished.

On a messageboard...be as pompous or as humble as you want. Sometimes you win ("Yeah...3rd Superbowl in 4 years, baby!") and sometimes you lose ("32 freaking points in the 2nd half to the Colts...aaaaarrrrgh!").

In real life, though, being an arrogant arse is no way to make friends. Maybe this affects me more than most on this board since I don't live in Pats country, but going around chanting "19-0, byotches!" is going to leave me pretty lonely (and my car keyed, too). I've got some good-natured back-and-forth with a Cowboys fan at work for the game on the 14th. That's about as far as it's going.

Regards,
Chris

You think I do, what?

Re: Humble thread poll

Merged and voted.

Darn... didn't notice you could make multiple choices.

I have a feeling the last option will be the top vote getter.:rocker:

IMO, part of the fun in being a fan, is rubbing the success of your team in opposing fans faces. Smack talk is fun and harmless... (so long as your not a Red Sox fan in Yonkers! )

To all you young kids out there who dont know what it was like in the early 90's, HOLD NOTHING BACK!!! I know Bills and Cowboy fans sure didnt. Not in my school anyway! Those front running scumbags!! (I can hold a grudge with the worst of them! ) I bet 90% of those kids are die-hard Patriot fans now... Probably surfing this board! :snob:

Two words... HUMBLE, SMUMBLE.

Not when you have idiots like AquaLoser still trolling this message board. As for Charger fans, I'm Ron Burgundy and go f*** yourself, San Diego!

The Pats stunned everyone in 2001 and even though some Superbowl reservations (Steelers) and coronations (Rams) had to be cancelled, the Pats were applauded. Ever since then the Pats have been treated by the media in a manner that suggests "Okay, you had your moment of glory, now get out of the way while we decide who the next champion should be."

Well, the Pats have refused to play along and just keep on winning. The media has been openly cheerleading for the Colts ("Everyone agrees that Peyton deserves a ring") and finally helped get them one.

Now along comes Spygate, and the media sees an opportunity to finish of the Pats once and for all. They made suggestions of penalties for the Pats and raised the bar of expectations among fans of other teams much higher than the offense had any right to be penalized with.

Everyone licked their chops as they waited for the vaunted Chargers to dismantle those "cheating" Pats on national television so that they would finally been sent away in disgrace, never to mess with the powers that be again.

Unfortunately, all this witch-hunt did was galvanize the Pats against their enemies and put a chip the size of a Sequoia on their supremely talented shoulders. They gave the Pats one thing that can be difficult to find for an entity used to success...motivation.

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean that they are not out to get you. The Pats are NOT paranoid, but the rest of the league IS out to get them. The rest of the league and the media snuck up on the Pats and everyone of them hit the Pats with a sucker punch. Much to their chagrin, the Pats only ended up with a slightly bloodied nose, but now are taking the gloves off and are proceeding to beat the tar out of everyone of the sucker punchers.

Now we are hearing all sorts of praise from the media about "wow, the Pats are great" and "please don't beat the crap out of us."

Sorry, too late, you led the witch-hunt and you sucker punched us, and we are taking it out on you and the rest of the NFL.

Oh, as to the question as to whether we should be more humble?

After the sucker punch is not the time to ask, the answer is a clear and resounding "NO!"

no...

why would fans have to be humble?

Humility is always the right choice.
