Mike Giardi is speculating that the Jets will blow their $95M in cap space on him.
What about going after Demaryus Thomas?
Sounds like Miami is moving on from him this offseason.
I’m assuming he’ll come much cheaper this offseason. Sign me up for a reunion.
Plus eleven years in the league. Lots of wear and tear.I was just about to Google his age. Knowing this detail, I'd say pass.
EwwwThat sucks but makes sense.
Look at it from Dannys point of view. He's 34 years old, has his rings. Playing for the Pats might be rewarding but it's WORK, no days off. Under Gase, he get's his money and it's like semi-retirement as compared to the Pats. Easy money
The team needs to find an OWR1, or at least an OWR2, and it needs to find the next generation of slot WR. What is the role need for Amendola?
I disagree. We have our top receivers, especially if Gronk stays. What we need is depth to spread the offense. That can be accomplished with some high end picks but also with some good reliable low tier FAs. We honestly need both rather badly right now.I'm with Deus on this. The WR position needs to be built from the top down, not from the bottom up. And it needs to get younger, not older.
If Amendola signs it is to replace one of the bottom guys that were there this past year, and will have little affect on the overall needs in the position.

If we don't fill out our depth with quality options that are a fit or our system we risk exposing whoever else we bring in. Since we can't count on Gordon, and shouldn't count on rookie wideouts to produce on day 1, battle-proven veterans like Dola are one of the better decisions we could make.
I don't see him returning.
My guess is Edelman, Dorsett, draft pick, Patterson and Berrios/FA
I'm not big on building the offense around a rookie, either. But with Gronk and Edelman we have two guys from whom we should expect less availability and elusiveness going forward. That's not something to build Brady's last couple of years on. We've had a good run with Edelman and Gronk as the primary receivers. But like Moss/Welker, there comes a time when that combo by itself isn't nearly good enough.
Some Teams have Found Gem WR's in the past years in the First - Second and Third rounds. Not an exact science but not total failure either....Scouts and Coaches have to do their homework. Malcolm Mitchell minus the knee injury was a find.
Which is why a reliable 3/4 option are going to be critical.I'm not big on building the offense around a rookie, either. Malcolm Mitchell minus the knee injury was a higher pick, almost certainly taken by a different team.
My point over the past three Drafts Teams like Pittsburgh - Atlanta and Denver have found some good first year WR's. I know there is fear around here because of the miserable record of Drafted Receivers. But one of these days we are gonna hit on a young one. Even a blind Squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.
