does anyone else think that bill will trade the 32nd pick and wait until the 2nd round? I wouldn’t be surprised. For some reason, he does not like to trade up. I think we need a deep threat receiver like the desert needs the rain. Also bill should seriously consider on drafting a qb after passing on it last year. I highly doubt Danny Etling is the succession plan.

I think it depends how the board falls. If he thinks he can get the guy he wants later, he will. If he needs to move UP to do that, he’s gone that route before too. But with 12 picks he’ll be dealing often come draft day.

Didn’t we trade down 4 times in 2011? Lol

I really really hope he does that or grab a WR (AJ Brown). This class is more about depth IMO than blue chips.

QB 1st tier: Murray Daniel Jones and Hawskins

2nd tier: Grier Fitzgerald Drew Lock T. Jackson Thorson Stidham Ryan Finley

3rd group: McSorley Rypien Justice

I would use a late 4th to grab any one of this guys, they are not the answer and Brady is playing 2 or 3 more years.

NFL network predicted we would take Kyler Murray with the 32nd. I think he’s way too undersized for the nfl. I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes to the MLB instead. If a rookie contract is 4 years, you can take a qb because in 4 years brady will be 45. Could just do a repeat of the Favre to Rodgers torch pass.

Unless there is a particular player that Belichick wants, he tends to value players between 25 and 45 close to equal. Most analyses have shown little difference in expected success. And yes, each draft has its "sweet spot".

IMHO, there is a significant break in value each year that occurs between pick 15 and 25, depending on year and position. That is, sometimes there is little difference between 16 and 45. Other times, there are players of much higher value still available through as late as 25. Obviously, top starters can be had at 32, or 42 or 52 or 62.

It seems like he likes to go for the steal instead of drafting a top tier prospect early

???

They made a trade up last year, for Dawson. Belichick trades up, trades down, and trades out. I'm waiting for him to try trading sideways.

100% agree on Murray

My ''problem'' is that i would like to ''test'' the young man before giving him a big contract you know? Like Jimmy, dude plays 7 games and break the bank.

I would love Fromm next year tho.

I would not mind to take a QB on he #1 round as i said i don't see a lot of blue chips in this draft, but i see a lot of good players. I think all #1 round talent will be long gone and we would reach for a QB using our #1 pick.

Round 1 Pick 32: Harry, NKeal, WR, Arizona State
Who would you take here assuming that Murray and Jones are gone?
Round 2 Pick 24: Hockenson, T.J., TE, Iowa
Round 2 Pick 32: Omenihu, Charles, DE, Texas
Round 3 Pick 9: Stidham, Jarrett, QB, Auburn
Round 3 Pick : Hodge, Kalhil, ILB, Buffalo
Round 3 Pick: Beckner Jr, Terry, DT, Missouri
Round 4 Pick 32: Biadasz, Tyler, C, Wisconsin

A receiving back to groom behind James white. I don't think Vereen played much his first year.

The rest of the leagues reaction when next year Goodell announces “with the 32 pick the New England Patriots trade with the New England Patriots ...”

I really think he may trade UP. He has a lot of ammunition in this draft, two 2's, several 3's. I wonder if he sees someone dropping that knocks his socks off, he might trade up using all that ammo. Prior to the draft, during the season, I was hell bent on them going defense with the 1st round pick. But after that LEGENDARY defensive performance in SB 53, I'm thinking, let's get the best TE at 32 (or higher, really like Noah Fant), then best QB available with the highest 2nd round pick, defense the other 2nd round pick.

Sony Michel was my favorite player for the Pats pre 2018 draft, never thought we'd pick him, was so happy when we did. This year, my favorite is WR Hakeem Butler from Iowa. He can be a Josh Gordon replacement, a nightmare matchup problem at 6'6" 230 lbs, especially in jump balls and in the red zone, and has good speed. We saw how Brady was really limited in the SB passing mostly to Edelman and Gronk, 16-19 to Edelman & Gronk, 5-12 to other receivers. It's obvious we need receivers who can get separation. I think Hogan and Dorsett will be gone. Patterson may be gone too.

Either way, I'm ALWAYS happiest picking #32 overall, makes the draft even more fun, as champions. Also, we've done pretty damned good at slot #32, unless we trade the pick. Malcom Brown 2015, Ben Watson 2004, Logan Mankins 2005 traded up from 32 to 21 for Daniel Graham 2002.
