Now we will see what he does as the main play caller for the Dolphins I was against using him to replace Mcdaniels.
Here's hoping Josh is here for the Long haul and that the Dolphins offense never leaves the ground under O'Shea.
He is now the enemy wish this could wait for the Superbowl to be announced.

O'Shea is under contract with the Pats until their season is over, the report should have read "are expected to hire..."

Otherwise the Dolphins would be in violation of league rules.

The rule:

Assistant coach with a team that advances to the Super Bowl

Teams are typically only allowed to interview a candidate one time while the candidate’s team is in the playoffs. However, there’s an exception to that rule for teams playing in the Super Bowl thanks to the two-week window between the conference championships and the big game itself.

If an assistant coach’s team advances to the Super Bowl, teams again need permission to schedule a second interview.

Once the assistant’s team has arrived to the Super Bowl site, the candidate can’t participate in an interview. The interview must take place the week after the Conference Championship, but before the team travels to the Super Bowl.

announcements won't change his work for SB

he waited long enough . doing great job . bringing lots of energy
i share some of your reservations about him being OC here
i do thank him though and wish him all well

I hate this . Big distraction for the team. This announcement could have waited. Remember the 96 SB. Parcells had one foot out the door and the Patriots were not focused at all.
I know Tom is different and so is BB but still its terrible timing . Wouldn’t be surprised if Miami planned the timing to try and throw their arch nemesis off their game .

Chad O'Shea is no Bill Parcells. Hardly a comparable scenario.

Very inaccurate thread title, by the way.

I'm sure they all know who's going where, and are focused on this Sunday's game.

Not sure why he is the enemy but good luck to him on career advancement.

I cannot find an announcement anywhere ...
we are better than misleading titles here.
If you have an announcement or whatever
you should supply a link for us who are interested in reading more.

newest links I see:
Brian Flores continues to fill out Dolphins coaching staff with two more additions
Brian Flores’ coaching staff comes into focus — unofficially, of course

The Dolphins also have hired Jim Caldwell as assistant head coach/quarterbacks, Patrick Graham as defensive coordinator and Patriots receivers coach Chad O’Shea as offensive coordinator.

Just scroll and read that looks like a done deal and even the smallest of distractions sucks.

Wasn't a distraction vs the Chiefs ... doubt it will be now.
He wants a ring as our in training DC and there is a bond
with the players I am sure he wants it more for them than himself.

I think you're making a mountain out of a mole hill. For all we know, PFT and Rappaport sat on this until this week. I think this is much ado about nothing. I feel confident that BB knows which members of his staff are moving on next Monday. I feel even more cofident that he knows more than Rappaport and PFT.

Done deal? Ask the guys Josh McD hired last year in Indy about done deals. We've seen this movie before. Josh McD... Charlie Weis... RAC. I don't think there's anything to see here. The focus is the Rams. Bet on it. This isn't The Tuna leaving to coach the Jete.

Edit: PFT and Rappaport do not constitute an announcement. The Dolphins have control over that.

Tuna leaving was definitely a screw job ... he didn't seem focused
which the players and fans absolutely did not deserve ... his gripe was elsewhere.

Chad and his family live about 5 or 6 houses down from me. Looks like I'm losing a friendly neighbor

He's got to be thrilled ... he's been coaching for like 22 years ... that's a long time.

I don't think I'd want to leave this Patriots team as a coach until Brady retired. Being a part of such an awesome, once in a lifetime experience would win out for me.

The Dolphins have been blatantly flaunting the rules with this all along. Compare it to how the Bengals are handling their reported post Super Bowl hiring of Rams’ QB coach Zac Taylor.

If their weren’t two sets of rules in Roger Goodell’s NFL, the Dolphins should be fined and have a draft pick of two given to the Patriots, but we know that’s not going to happen.
