Can't fill even part of a parking lot. Truly what the league wanted in terms of a bigger market.

I will say I’ve not seen this much security at any hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Walking in today there are 5 dogs and about 25 heavily armed security, several with ARs waiting outside the hotel. Inside it’s just as bad. There were probably about 10 groups of cops. Groups of 2-4. Wandering around. They are in camouflage* and are heavily armed. Most have at least 2 firearms visible along with, on average, an extra 5 magazines that are visible. It’s like the President is here or something.
*really?!? We are in downtown Atlanta. Nothing green within 5 miles of here. You want camouflage, have a jacket with car grills and manhole covers on it.
Interesting thread on chiefsplanet.

Security theater is a hell of a Drug.
Yup, I was there about 22 rows back on the field. I thought it was an awesome introduction by JK for BB. He said the Pats Super Bowl appearance in 96 was due to BB, which I'm sure Parcells would have something to say about. Regardless, it's pretty clear the Krafts have always wanted BB and look what has happened since. Incredible.Did anyone see Jonathon Kraft talk about BB in the 95/96 season?
This is getting way blown out of proportion. He was feeding off the crowd, encouraging everybody to chant the usual "we're still here" and "beat LA" and then said that. This isn't even close to the Butler situation or even the Welker situation. Chung got caught up in the moment and to be honest, this has ZERO effect on the Super Bowl. Do we think LA is going to be super duper motivated now bc Chung said to a crowd of 35,000 that we're gonna kick their ass? Big whoop. Not a big fan of this. Watch Chung get Butler’d now. Stupid thing to do. I know the adrenaline was probably going nuts, but cmon, you have to keep your wits. Now we’re going to hear about this all week, and gave the Rams material. Dumb thing to do.
I remember the 2007 season, the Pats were killing teams. Tom went on radio, and to paraphrase, he said, we try to kill teams every week. From that point on, every god damned game was incredibly close including losing a close SB. I remember cringing when Tom said that.
For Christ’s sake, don’t give em more motivation.

I agree...but still, he shouldn't have said it. Cooks already responded in LA. It's weird what the opposing team gets fired up about. You'd think that being in the Super Bowl would be all the motivation they need but someone gives some really dumb slight and all of a sudden "it's on." In 2007 Brady had that press conference where he responded incredulously to a 23-21 Giants prediction (or something) with "we're only going to score 21?". And Strahan said that was what really fired up the Giants D-line and if Brady hadn't said that, then maybe they wouldn't have had that extra motivation.
I love Chung but hope that nobody else does anything like that for the rest of the week.

Tom Brady’s ‘Pretty Boy Chuckle’ Cost Patriots Perfect Season, According to Justin Tuck, Osi Umenyiora
ETA2: His whole career, Brady has said the right thing at every press conference, following the Patriot way of talking for 20 minutes without saying anything. He only slipped up twice. Once was the example above. The other one was "Harbaugh should read the rulebook" which could be argued led in part to Deflategate. Dumb people criticize the Patriots for giving bland press conferences but there's a very good reason to do so.
Check out “Patriot Reign” by Michael Holley when he was embedded with the team during the 2002 and 2003 seasons. Short answer - yes. Long answer - the Krafts were upset over the Parcells situation and knew Belichick was a loyal guy and therefore figured Belichick would never accept, so they didn’t actually offer him the job.Thought it was brilliant also made me wonder how much did BB influence that season? Wonder if krafts knew then who they wanted
The exact same can be said for the Patriots. The Giants were talking trash all week, saying they were going to get after him and hold the best offense in history to 17 points. Isn't that trash talk? Did it make Brady and the offense better?I agree...but still, he shouldn't have said it. Cooks already responded in LA. It's weird what the opposing team gets fired up about. Not a fan of send off rallies. I think these celebration before the finish line are a distraction and also someone bound to say something stupid. Rally is good marketing tool for the owners.Chung guaranteed a win, said we’d kick their ass. Well Super Bowl guarantees have actually done well historically (Namath, Burgess, Jeffery).

I think trash talk/underdog mentality can help you throughout a season, or give a player more motivation to keep playing longer (see Brady, Tom), but when it comes down to all the marbles aka the Super Bowl, the trash talk is completely irrelevant. No team is going to get up more for the Super Bowl because the other team thinks they're going to kick their ass. If you need more motivation for a Super Bowl, then you've lost before you set foot on the football field.

I think it's mostly Wickersham and his story from last year that everyone piled on all off-season.Thought occurred to me today.
This postseason run has definitely had a lot of Patriots "nobody believes in us" motivation.
I don't watch too much sports media anymore but I wonder who the biggest culprits are in the minds of the Pats. Exactly which media figures are the ones that they're thinking about when they joke that "we're too old" and "everyone thinks we suck"?
Here's an idea: maybe the ones they're hearing about the most are Max Kellerman and Rob Parker.
Those two are certainly the most vocal about it. They've been on the anti-Pats train for years. And they seem to be getting more publicity this year for some reason. The Patriots twitter account posted a video crushing Parker the other day. So maybe it's those two guys specifically that the team is responding to.
So think about it -- Kellerman and Parker are providing the motivation to the Pats for this postseason run. Maybe without those two guys, the Pats wouldn't have gotten this far?
If that's the case, let me be the first to thank Max and Rob for having their Patriots hate blow up so spectacularly in their faces. We couldn't never have done it without you!
