How would you say this win ranks among non-Super Bowl wins in the Brady bill era? I was discussing it with my friends last night. I had it #2 with my top 3 being
2014 divisional vs ravens
This
2017 afcc vs jags

But the more I think about it, the more it might be #1

Disclaimer: I’m 21 years old, so 2001 divisional vs raiders (or any from that season) aren’t eligible for me. 4 year old me wasn’t nice screaming with joy about the tuck rule
(First football game I remember is stopping the colts at the 1 and first playoff game I truly remember is Super Bowl vs panthers)

The pure freaking insanity of the 4th and ot, along with the storybook aspect of gronk coming through, the image of Brady celebrating with pure joy when we won, and all the postgame celebration really adds to it for me

I’ve always ranked at Pittsburgh in 2004/05 as #1. Strong argument for this game among the best, a road win over a very formidable opponent. I’d personally rank the “tuck rule game” #2, and this game #3. The 2014/15 Ravens comeback was awesome but also had a “wtf - why this again!” feel to it and was against a weaker opponent.

Still going with Steelers first, as they team was 16-1 and quite a lot of ****iness and chest thumping before getting shut up within about 15 seconds. Chiefs just weren’t villainish enough.

Best Patriots Playoff games (not counting SBs)

To me 6 games stick out.

2001/2 Oakland - tuck rule
2006/7 Chargers - dancing lights out
2011/12 Ravens - wide right
2014/15 Ravens - double 14 point comeback
2017/18 Jaguars - 4th quarter comeback
and now the 2018/19 Chiefs - OT win.

Any of them could be nominated for the best and I don't believe any other game they have played not in a super bowl to be in the running for the pure entertainment value these games had.

I still take that 2001 Oakland game.

That’s a fair point. There certainly wasn’t a rivalry aspect to this one. But there was still the intense motivation due to the doubt they faced this season

...?
2014 playoff game vs Baltimore is the best non Super Bowl game ever imo. Was crazy.
Absolutely crazy. I’ve never experienced a crowd like that too. Everyone was so loud. We also stood for about the entire game, which doesn’t always happen

1. 2001 Oakland Snow Game - The kick in the snow, Brady’s first big comeback, last game at Foxboro Stadium, the snow storm, .... this was the game when the Pats got reborn from a loser franchise to a team that would go on to be a dynasty. Hallelujah

2. Chiefs 2018 - last night was epic. It was like a Rocky movie. Each team landing haymaker after haymaker with Pats the last team standing.

3. Baltimore 2014 - Brady to Edelman to Amendola.

4. Chargers 2006 - Troy Brown punching the ball out game

5. Baltimore 2011 - Sterling Moore saves the day

In recent memory, the Pats v Saints wk 6 - 2013(?)

I’d add that 85 divisional vs Oakland as a fun one.

Seals fumble and Patriots piling into the endzone to recover the kickoff for a td just after Franklins fg ties it was epic.

Remember my brother and I going berserk for that game. Holloways comments about tearing the orange bowl down brick by brick after the game.

"Where does this game rank" in what terms, pure epic? These are definitely higher:
- 2014 Divisional vs BAL
- 2004 AFCCG @PIT
But then it's up there with last year's JAX bout.

If we include RS, I loved Pittsburgh game last season, 11-0 in fourth quarter and Big Ben's INT in the red zone to seal the deal. Or 2015 season opener when Gronk scored 3 TD's.

I'm a man of simple tastes, smashing Steelers always takes the cake.

A win on 2/3 would put the Patriots at six Super Bowls, tied with the Steelers, but also would put them ahead in playoff victories (currently tied). Finish that off with more AFC championships (11-8), and they are check mated in terms of most successful franchise. Last year's Super Bowl would not have yielded that result yet, as the Patriots still trailed in playoff wins. This would be absolutely spic, especially with that team's tailspin.

There's no greater gift the Patriots could give me than surpassing this arrogant and unlikeable team and fanbase. I remember in the early 2000s going on ESPN message boards and was just blown away at how arrogant they were in declaring themselves the best franchise in the NFL while constantly being ugly and jealous about the Patriots success. They thought they were really awesome with their terrible towels, which back then was cool to them, for some reason.

Patriots aside ... that was about as good as it gets for a drama packed action filled game.

1. 2001 vs. Oakland
2. 2014 vs. Ravens
3. This one

I'm still trying to fully take in the 3 TD drives in a row, each one to "win the game." Three in a row. Three in a row.

IMO, the successful use of the run game early on helped make that possible. Those long drives (even the ones that led to zero points) wore out the KC defense like in SB 51.

As a road game ,,or a road AFCCG,,I believe it's number 1 for me,,,the BEST.
I don't think we do well at Arrowhead,,ever and to do that to this Years MVP ,,,the kid that everyone is talking about,,,,what a brilliant performance ,,,and coaching.
