If the Pats lose, would you root for Chargers/Chiefs in SB?

Saints all the way, then anyone but Indy.

To me it’s anybody but Philadelphia.
Indianapolis winning would be hard to watch, but it would take away a little bit from the Peyton Manning legacy. Plus it would re-introduce and bring yo light the tanking and sucking on purpose strategy.

I don’t think the gatebros feel the same way about us at all.

FWIW, I had a conversation about this with a group of Saints fans in a southern BBQ beer joint in Copenhagen a couple of weeks ago. Explained the gatebros mindset, which to them was news but welcome news. So there are now three rural Louisiana lesbians who are now in the gatebros camp.

Were the hypothetical unthinkable to happen and the Pats not in the SB, the plus side is I'd drop my No SB Party 'cause the Pats are in it and I want to watch football, not yak rule and I'd go to a SB party and overindulge in food & drink. Consume mass quantities.
The downside is I don't know a single soul who's having a SB party.

You could always drunkenly barge into a party uninvited with your shirt off and pouring sweat.

Andy Reid beating the Eagles would be worth the price of admission.

Imagine an all-L.A. Super Bowl, Chargers vs. Rams -- the NFL's two least-deserving fan bases (outside of New Jersey). o_O

I’d root for nfc in that case unless it’s the eagles. Only in that case would I root for Kansas City, if it was Indy vs Eagles, is not even watch

For as long as I can remember a loss meant not only losing but having to watch the Steelers, Ravens, or a Manning team get a chance to walk away with the Lombardi. So essentially I’ve rooted hard for the NFC in each Super Bowl for the past 20 years.

Obviously no one here can be a real fan stomach the Colts/Irsay, but what about the Chiefs or Chargers? Would you potentially be rooting for an AFC team this year, or be neutral at the least?

So if the Patriots don’t win, then...

I would like to see Philip Rivers get a ring. He’s been a better QB than Eli and arguably than Roethlisberger, but he’s had so many crappy teams and disappointments.

I would also like to see Andy Reid finally get a ring, as he’s a very underrated coach and probably the second best of this era. He’s had to fight in the playoffs with Alex Smith and Donovan McNabb. The Chiefs have “put their time in” and been a perennial contender for years now as well, and I typically root for teams like that to get rings (rather than fluky luck teams like the Giants who are totally unworthy of their titles.)

Thoughts?

I have strong thoughts on what I want to happen if the Pats lose. I would absotively root for the Bolts and especially the Chiefs, two original AFL teams.

I root for the AFC with very few exceptions. It goes back to the original AFL days when the NFL ridiculed our teams and wouldn't play us for years. Thankfully, the Jets and Chiefs shut them up for good with back to back wins in 68 and 69.

I can't root for the Indiots though. Not after they took part in defaming the greatest QB ever and also after they purposely tanked a season to get Andrew Luck.

They also tanked games with a legit chance to go 16-0 at the end of the 2009 season to keep the Steelers out of the playoffs and put the Jets in. I can still see the stunned faces of Manning and Jeff Saturday as they were pulled from the Jets game. Afterwards their loser GM (Polian) actually had the gall to step in front of a mic and use the Pats loss in the 2007 SB as his reason for tanking.

Btw, Polian's also the same clown that used his influence on the competition committee to have the rules changed to help stop Belichick's defenses against Manning and create the mess that we now have in the NYFL.

I can't remember ever pulling for an NFC team as hard as I pulled for the Saints in the 2009 SB. I cheered every step of the way on PEDton's pick six that ended that game.

I also wouldn't root for the Ratbirds either. Not after they participated in the character assassination of Tom Brady. It disgusts me to think that they and the NYFL would celebrate a piece of crap like Ray Lewis while trying to tear down a guy who the NYFL should be celebrating for his work ethic and character.

I would probably also now root against the Steelers to give the Pats a chance to overtake them in total SB wins.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. Any thoughts on those?

These hypothetical pats losing threads are really just bad mojo.

No they aren't bad mojo. In fact, they might be good. We have one every time the Pats make the playoffs and they won five times so far.

Eww, no. Neither please.

If Pats lose it would be interesting to see Nick Foles win his second super bowl, you know, just to affirm that the universe makes no sense and that life is meaningless.

At the start of the playoffs I thought I could root for the Chargers if they went that far. Then yesterday watching them beat the Ravens they were pretty much acting like the Ravens. If you listened to the field mikes they were chirping every bit as much as the Ravens and to top it off they kept doing those celebration poses I've taken to hating so much especially after watching the Colts doing it when down by double digits in the second half which I attended.

I fully expect them to act like asshats should they win here. Maybe if they pull it off without acting like idiots I could root for them or if they play against Dallas or Philly.

KC I probably need to rewatch the 2017 opener but I can at least remember Hill acting like a douche and his domestic violence rap sheet makes me want to root against him. Mahomes seems like a decent kid and I wouldn't mind Reid getting a ring or Eric Berry.

Chargers sure.
Chiefs - no. Not that I dislike them I just don’t want an all offense no defense team to become the standard for winning a championship
Colts LOL no. For obvious reasons.

The Foles hype would be off the charts...

Lol , for a fanbase of a team that has had unbelievable success in the past 18 years we sure are a bunch of scaredy-cats

Speak for yourself or show us the posts here that you're referring to. This is about who we're rooting for.

Yes: Saints, Rams, Chargers

No: Chiefs, Colts, Giggles, Cowboys
