First of all - way to go. I don’t care what you say, that’s a hell of an accomplishment. I went through a phase in roughly 2012-2014 where I had what I guess I would describe now as depression. Without diving too deeply into it, I was having a rough go of it. Broke up with my girlfriend at the time and I was working 40-50 hours a week in a job that topped out around $40k while going through my MBA. The stress during that time was so bad that I was having either fainting spells or seizures (they never got diagnosed but the onset - intense feelings of deja vu coupled with completely losing consciousness to the point where my dog would lick my face until I came to - is what I have read about seizures). Anyway, to cope, I took up drinking every night of the week and heavily binge drinking from day to the early hours of dawn on the weekends. I just had a friend that went through his own bad break up so it was easy. My two drugs of choice were blow and Molly. The yay, in particular, was easy because my dealer used to deliver it. He sold $50 Gs, which was the typical stepped on ****, and $80 Gs which were solid rock. I used to buy the $80 variety. Face would go numb and you would gag off one little bump of it. At the end of the bag, I would usually pop a Xanax (or snort that too) and go to bed for a few hours before getting back after it again. I thought I was happy at the time but, looking back, it was the saddest time of my life.

Anyway, what you say is true. I was never a “true addict” considering what you described yourself as being. I didn’t do it during the week (for the most part), but I was HEAVILY into that and Molly on the weekends. You have to decide to change for yourself. Since then, I’ve only done one line maybe two years ago at a party and hated it. I still drink but my days of drinking all day and night are over. Sadly, I have friends that are still into it and have increased their consumption to include week nights. I still go out to the bar with them at night on the weekends here and there but end up leaving when they want to go back to their house and buy a bag. I’ve made my peace with the fact that they’re probably never going to get over it and will probably be dead long before me and my other friends that put that habit away will.

Anyway, congrats on your sobriety, man. That’s a hell of a story.

EDIT: Heh, a couple of years ago shortly after I kicked the habits, I visited a new dentist and he said he saw evidence of “heavy grinding.” He asked if I grind my teeth at night in my sleep and I said, “uhhh yeah... something like that.”

Kon — thanks for that story as well. Was there a single turning point when you turned it around? Was it hard once you had decided to? If you don’t mind me asking.

I can’t really point to a single one. More like an accumulation over time. If I had to pick, I would say meeting my now fiancée would have probably been it. I ultimately ended up decreasing my work hours at first and then graduating really helped take a lot off my plate. Plus, as you read, I wasn’t really making a whole lot of money at the time so spending that much on vices wasn’t a long term solution. But, again, I was never really an “addict” in the sense that @Joker was. I was merely trying to self-medicate my way out of what I now recognize as depression.

As for it being hard? A little bit. Changing one’s lifestyle always is. But I wouldn’t put it anywhere near quitting cigarettes cold turkey. That was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to give up.

On the other hand, one must never remain silent. To be silent is to be complicit, or to endorse. I try to avoid inciting, or cause conflict, but I will never shy away from pointing out the truth.

When you debate with someone, there is always someone listening and you never know whose minds you will change, even if it's not the person you're debating with.

Your post was both political, in a forum where that's not allowed, and stupid. So, yes, you should have remained silent.

Will Josh Gordon be back for the 2019 season????

He just posted on his twitter (link below) that he's stepping away from football. Doesn't look like he was hacked. Really sad to see, the poor guy must be fighting so many demons

What demons? A substance that is legal in several states and has been smoked for thousands of years, probably to a time before written history?

I really don't understand the fuss with him. It's not like he's a Johnny Manziel, Mike Vick, Joe Mixon, Adrian Peterson, or what have you.

It's more than weed bro

Thanks we are looking into that now. Currently she is off the oxy's and on methadone. Its doing its job about the withdrawal, but little for her persistent back pain. I've read where methadone can be used for pain, but it is very hard to find a doctor that will prescribe it, Its like a catch 22. Her pain doctors think she should try it, but they can't prescribe it, and her primary care doctor won't....at least not at this timed, since she so recently started on the methadone. It is a mess.
I don't know if it will help in her case, but for me the best relief from back problems with a physical therapist. I've been to a few, but only one of them was helpful.

Did either you or Deus similarly chastise the post to which he replied? Or are you not applying the same standard to everyone?

You can't possibly be this foolish.

Or can you?

I commented regarding his statement about keeping silent, when this board expressly wants people NOT TO TALK (a/k/a keep silent) about politics.

Be better than that.

Tread lightly down that slippery slope, Ken. As someone who was prescribed a small dose of Methadone for disk herniations, I can tell you that it’s nearly impossible to get off of after a certain amount of time. I literally spent about 18 months shaving little bits and pieces off with a pill splitter in an attempt to allow my body to keep getting used to the lesser amount. I would wean down in some form every 4-6 weeks, but Methadone has a long half life and patients often don’t even start to see the true negative effects until a week or even a couple of weeks in. Due to that fact, one needs to continually drag themselves through a long and tedious period of being “strung out,” since you cannot just go through a normal withdrawal like you can with more popular, “regular,” shorter-acting pain pills like Percocet, Vicodin, and even Morphine.

Again—the dosage was relatively small, but the frequency was every 8-12 hours and so she’ll eventually have to cut the dose little by little for both (or even three) doses per day. That’s going to take awhile. Maybe it was harder for me personally, but the amount of horror stories from others are numerous.

I only have to take a half of a Percocet every night now, which is still pathetic, but I’ve worked super hard at getting it down this far. My back surgery was in summer 2016. For the record, I tried the medical marijuana program for a little over 3 months (drops under the tongue) and while it helped bring my daily pain from say an 8 down to around a 6.5, I gave up around Thanksgiving and haven’t used them since. It certainly isn’t the cure all that some claim that it is. For now, I remain in chronic pain which is the main reason why I’m up all night trying to shift positions until I finally fall asleep. After all of the pain pills + the medical weed program + surgery and physical therapy, I’m still tortured. I’m currently looking into more steroid epidurals and possible ablation techniques. Perhaps they may work for your wife on some level? Finding a pain mgmt doctor is important, although it doesn’t always lead to answers, either. At any rate, just wanted to warn you about the Methadone for pain, even if it’s only a small amount. That stuff is pure poison. In my opinion, they shouldn’t even have it on the market. Good luck with everything.

Will Josh Gordon be back for the 2019 season????

during the period end december i read articles that wrote that his return for 2019 was 'possible'

so he 'probably 'could be back but imho it is also 'up in the air' if an NFL team will give him a chance

i hope the best for him and it would be an amazing story if he is able to succed in his life and i hope for him also in the league

i have been his fan when he dressed jersey nr 10 with us, no doubt

pity and sad that he will not play a play-off game with the New England Patriots in 10 days :(

Except this time it's not a voter issue. He's not going to finish out this year, never mind get to 2020.
Lmaooo I heard that last year and in 2017, too. He’s still here.

Except now the House of Representatives is no longer in the GOP's hands, and you're going to be seeing investigations, subpoenas, hearings, the likes you've never seen before. That buffer zone he had, is gone now. The Senate is the last wall of defense for him and I expect them to cave in under tremendous pressure.

Way to totally and completely miss my point (and simultaneously prove me 100% right). Try re-reading my post.

You said "if he does get re-elected," and I pointed out how that's never going to happen.

While he does have a rabid base, it's far smaller that most people make it out to be. The majority of people that voted for him in 2016 were fooled, and are very unlikely to be fooled again.

Yep. Any day now. I can feel it.

Whether I agree or disagree with everything you state here, this isn't the place for it. Specifically NOT the place.

ps. Yeah, there are some folks here who will call out political posts on one side of the argument only, and ignore glaring politics in posts with which they agree.

Whether or not this is the place for it, is up to the mods. If they take action, then it's out of our hands.

But until then, as I've pointed out- I believe that to be quiet is to be complicit.

HI... I am here for stuff about Josh Gordon? Am I in the wrong thread? *backs out of thread slowly*
