Maybe that 2015 afcc @ denver was a blessing in disguise ;)

Dante can't coach forever... and the first crack at replacing him was a disaster with 'Guge'... I hope he has a protege or there is some plan in place for when Dante hangs it up.

I believe that is a guy named Cole Popovich.

Dave was no Scar, but he did get it working by the end of the season. I give him credit for taking his lumps early and gutting it out to a solid unit.

Personnel matters a lot and that variable is absent from the analysis.

Well they did win a Super Bowl with "Guge" as the OL coach.

Agreed, having Brady behind center makes a big difference. That said, the era of Guge also proves that Scar is, in fact, a wizard.

I feel like the Patriots shouldve recorded Dante throughtout his career, then playback the whole thing until the end of day once he retires

It's the only thing that could make a serviceable substitute

Very true. Scar should get even more credit because from what I've read, he has helped select OL players as well. Even when he was "retired".

We won a Sb and almost went to another in his 2 years so as “disasters” go it wasn’t so bad.

I always wondered if Deguglielmo would have got canned after the 2015 season if we won it all.
Gugs got fired this offseason from the Colts even when the Colts OL played very well to say the least. Makes you think the problem is Gugs’ personality since he seems at least serviceable as a coach.

Who knows. Reich said the plan was always to bring in his own guy but they kept Gugs for the season because he was already hired for McDaniels staff.

When you read his resume he is the prototypical Pats Coach.. comes from a relatively obscure University or College who has passion for the game and passion for coaching.. I think this is his 34th year, pretty incredible.

Scarnecchia played offensive guard and center at California Western University from 1968-70

Wasn't 2015 just an injury hell season? Dave DeGuglielmo did some gimmicky stuff rotating OL around when it wasn't necessary, but mostly I think it was just too many dudes getting wiped out.

That said, Scar is an absolutely unique OL coach who deserves to go in the HOF, even though that probably won't ever happen.
