Patriots Player Departure Josh Gordon Stepping Away?

Here's a few of the posts. I know there are more but I didn't want to go through the other half of the thread.

That one is actually a double quit followed by a confirmation...

So please, tell me how I'm wrong and that isn't quitting on the team. It looks like the definition of the word.
It’s pretty clear that you don’t understand what the word means. Here’s a game - would you lay every single penny you had on the Patriots to win the Super Bowl this year? Yes or no? Why or why not?

the time, resources and special treatment to get Gordon up to speed

Why would any other WR coming into the Pats offense after the season is underway (with no OTAs or Camp) need any less?

Belichick is great and the bestest ever. The fact you mock that explains a lot.

Sure he is. But he’s still made his fair share of mistakes. This roster is one of them. Luckily for us, he’s quicker to admit to his own mistakes than some of you are.

I've given plenty of Xs and Os through the years again I don't feel the need to prove myself to you or get in pissing matches with you over it.
But to answer your questions:
Dorsett will likely be called on to fill in for Gordon. Gronk, Edelman, and White will obviously be the real keys as Brady will lean on them more. He's done more with much less before.

Dorsett is not going to give us what Gordon did. If he had, Gordon wouldn’t have been signed in the first place. Dorsett’s snap count has also gotten lower and lower each week. Gronk is getting doubled and tripled every game and Edelman is nursing a foot injury and will be subject to even more defensive attention now. The team no longer has a true #1 wideout.

To fix the run would require more commitment to it and that would start with dressing Shelton.

Awful synopsis here for two reasons:

1. You don’t think Belichick is committing to stopping the run? The greatest coach of all time? If that’s the case, he and Flores should be fired tomorrow.

2. Shelton is not fixing that mess. If he could, he wouldn’t have been a healthy scratch the last couple of weeks. Shelton sucks. Another personnel failure by Billy B. this offseason.

Then play more out 4/3 and 3/4. And most importantly they need to 2 gap better.

Another awful analysis. The DTs simply are not capable of two gapping at a level even approaching competent. That’s the reason the DL has needed to one gap so often this year.

The interior DL seems to be shading to one side too often and not covering both gaps.

This literally does not mean anything. D-Lines have gap responsibilities but do not “shade to one side” or the other.

However I don't think this is BB's biggest priority I think he'll continue worry more about passing and play out of nickel and dime just as much. When the O is at it's best this strategy has a good success rate.

Huge WTF here. BB is worrying about both. If he doesn’t, he has no business coaching the team. The problem is that the team doesn’t have the personnel to stop the run either out of the nickel/dime OR the 43/34. It’s personnel. That’s the problem. That personnel was assembled by Bill Belichick. So the fatal flaws that this team possesses stop at his feet.

I wouldn't lay out every single penny on a Patriot win regardless of the year. Having said that, what are the current odds of the Patriots winning the Super Bowl this year? I may take that bet, although, it would be a modest sum.

Why would any other WR coming into the Pats offense after the season is underway (with no OTAs or Camp) need any less?

Because Gordon has a disease and can’t take care of himself. Because of this the Pats gave far more attention and resources to Gordon than any other mid season acquisition would need.

IOW, you don't know this for fact, you're merely assuming.

Wow just wow. Not sure how to converse with someone who is so out of touch. Not only are you saying this whole roster is a mistake but you think BB thinks so too. I guarantee you BB does not think this team is a mistake.

AFAIK, the only way for a team to have zero chance of winning the SB is by missing the playoffs. The Pats aren't there yet.

There's a substantial number of Pats 'fans' that have clearly known so much success that any year that isn't a slam dunk magic carpet ride to the SB is a disappointment. There's a big difference between managing expectations and throwing in the towel. Coming into this season I think the more experienced fans realistically expected anywhere from 10-6 to 13-3, not bad for a team that hadn't managed more than 11 wins in the first 40 years of it's existence and was in reload mode. I figured 12-4 and dropped that expectation to 10-6 when Hill went down because with the receiving corps they broke camp with I honestly thought ground n pound was going to be the order of the day at least until Edelman came back. Sure they lost some games I had figured them to win at the beginning of the season but they also won games I thought they'd lose, and yes Miami in Miami was originally counted as it's customary L. Only in New England since the turn of the century is a season that sees a trip to the playoffs a 'bad year.' That says a lot, some of it good...some of it not so much.

In 2002, BB was not satisfied with the roster as explained in “Patriot Reign”.

After the 2006 season, BB made a huge splash at WR. Signed AD to help cover TE’s which was the biggest reason they lost in the AFCCG to the Colts.

He got rid of the bad apples in ‘09.

Got some WR help after the 2013 season.

To think BB doesn’t think any of his rosters were mistakes would be arrogance on his end.

I’d be shocked if BB is not aggressive this off-season revamping this roster at WR and the D-line.

Spot on. Book it.

I took the time to read thru all 45 pages of this tragicomedy. I'm pretty sure that alone is an indication that I have a demon or two, if not an addiction.

My observations:

Kontra participated in a good old fashioned WWE handicap match. He and DoritoDink had a good brawl until signbabybrady tagged in and took over for the Dink. Good 5 star match.

To keep the wrestling theme going, Triumph has to be commended for some quality heel work. Roddy Piper would be proud.

Because he has a post count higher than Phillip Rivers' sperm count, Andy Johnson may be an addict.

Moosekill. WTF was that?

As the thread was descending into beautiful chaos, a Browns fan (A BROWNS FAN) brought order with a well thought out, intelligent post.

Edelman drops a lot of passes and has a good catch rate.

Gordon might be addicted to pot which isn't addictive but maybe the habit is addictive so in a way pot is addictive. Or is it alcohol?

A thread about Gordon being unable to quit became a thread about fans who have quit.

I may have missed a few other things, but I think I got most of it.

And thanks to Kontra, I will be haunted by the image of Bruschi's cold stare tonight!

I understand it’s a 5th but we could have used that pick as additional capital to acquire Tate or Thomas. Plus the time, resources and special treatment to get Gordon up to speed was just was not worth it, now that we see him bailing right before the playoffs.
It was a fifth but also got their 7th, so we basically dropped 50 spots in the later rounds, not much of a risk at all.

It was a risk. He didn’t finish out the season. You can find good players in the 5th round.

Oh, jeez. THAT is "resources"?

SMFH

Yes it sends a message to the team that this guy is important. They gave Gordon attention and resources that a normal guy would not get. I’d rather we focus on guys who can be dependable.

How many mid season acquisitions get a locker next to Brady?

Yeah, and 53 guys who are merely "dependable" will get you to 8-8 at best with your pud in your hand the Sunday after New Year's Day. Have fun with that.

I have had a blast watching the Hogan’s, Amendolas and Browns being dependable. I make a fair argument. I don’t like that we put up the time and draft capital into the Gordon run. What is your disagreement?
