Steelers inactives: QB Mason Rudolph, S Marcus Allen, CB Brian Allen, RB James Conner, OT Zach Banner, LB Olasunkanmi Adeniyi, DE L.T. Walton. With Conner out, it could create more opportunity for former Patriots RB Stevan Ridley behind projected starter Jaylen Samuels.
Shelton is awful but he at least knows the defense and is probably better than street free agents at this point.
It’s week 16. Most teams have 70-75 guys on the roster (including IR and PS). If you’re not employed by now, chances are you’re worse than even bad roster players.
Same with Rivers and Davis who almost certainly won’t be around next year after riding the healthy scratch express.
Awful but familiar with the D/known entity vs guys who aren’t good enough to land on a roster by mid-December and likely are either out of shape or unfamiliar with the scheme (or both).
The time to address the putrid DL has long since come and gone. It is what it is, which is among the worst in the league. Need to try to overcome it somehow.

May the defense find a way to put some pressure on Big Ben. That offensive line is very good at giving him a lot of time in the pocket. But given Roeth's banged up ribs, it would help a great deal to get past that gunslinger's protection.
