4 straight losses, 3 to each inferior division rival, 2 at home and out of playoffs? That’s 100% on the coach. So yeah it probably would imo.
I’m not saying the team would fire him outright. There are other more graceful ways to make a change and he’s certainly earned that. But a collapse like that plus the Malcolm Butler benching? Yeah his job will no longer be a sure thing and rightfully so no matter who you are.
The guy has been to 3 of the past 4 Super Bowls and won 2. His seat ain’t getting warm over missing the playoffs at 9-7
Even had the Pats gone 1-15, I doubt his seat would be warm. He’s the GOAT and still putting together championship teams. One or even two awful years isn’t enough to get his seat warm.
It’s pure insanity to think otherwise. Or an exercise in trolling.
The Pats are having a “down” year by their standards because last offseason was a total flop. Draft, trades, veteran free agency...very little worked out (Trent Brown was about it). It happens. Over almost 20 years you’re going to have dud offseasons. It’s not the first he’s had that was a total disaster. Were it not for Brady’s career winding down, this would just be a 2009 or 2005 type speed bump in the road
The frustration from the fans is largely due to the super bowl loss still leaving a bad taste in some people’s mouths and the fact that the team looks like it needs a 2-3 year retooling and Brady doesn’t have that kind of time left. It seems likely that the Bracy era will end with a few “down” years of 10-6 or 11-5 and early playoff exits. Unfortunate but it was almost always going to end badly and this isn’t that bad of an end. Disappointing to be sure, but they’re still competitive and Belichick’s coaching prowess should keep them in contention for the duration of Brady’s career. Even if they’re more like a top 7-10 team instead of top 3.
