If Brees gets MVP, goes 18-1, gets his second Lombardi... all time career stats..where does that put him in the GOAT discussion?

...if the NHL officials suddenly stop being corruptly biased in the most blatant, lopsided fashion against Boston this Spring, then the Bruins will have a shot at winning the Cup.

He is an alltime great. But how many times did his team win 9 games or less ? Now look at Brady. Now look back at Brees...

Mandatory minimum of 4 Lombardi's imo, he only has one, even then he would be 2 short of Montana and Bradshaw, and for now 3 short of Brady as he could get 6 this season.

The NFL rule book has distorted the QB to such an extent I have no idea where Brees will ultimately end up in the counting stats and where his place in history will be (certainly not GOAT though) . There are 10 QB's with QB ratings over 100 and nearly 20 with completion %'s over 65%. 4,500 yards is now the expectation and 30 TD's as well. Brees, like Brady and Manning is now playing in this 3rd era. 2000 to around 2006 when a 2 to 1 TD/Int ratio was solid and 28 TD's could lead the league (Brady in 2002) They then played in the Polian era up through last year where touching the WR was now considered a no no. The new "please don't touch anyone" era just started and we will see QB and WR records falling left and right. Mahomes is in the midst of one of the statistically greatest seasons of all time as a first year starter. Unless we are going to anoint every QB playing now as an all time great I have no idea how this group will ultimately be evaluated. (why the talk about Eli being a potential HOFer is even more absurd)

If he did that I'd put him top 5. I think you'd have to put him over guys like Marino/Favre/Elway

Only if they find a second and third line somewhere

The Saints have a brutal backend of the schedule. They have to face a division leader in the AFC and still have five divisional games, including two against the Panthers. The other two games are against the Eagles and Cowboys, not exactly pushovers. If they run the table in the regular season, Brees will deserve the MVP.

Brees is a great QB, but the Saints are not a great road team - which I think is a prerequisite for real greatness.

Did Brees spend his career playing 6 games a year vs the Jets/Bills/Phins?

i have no idea why this stat needs to be repeated over and over and over again before the people on this board burn it into their minds, but damn

since 2001 the pats have a LOWER winning % against the rest of the AFCE than they do the league as a whole (minus the AFCE)

comprende?

You will be amazed at all the so called “proof” people regurgitate without any research or facts to back them up. This is not just about football either.

I think his position is still solidified as not GOAT.

I’ll think about it some more and get back to you.

What are you suggesting -- that the Jete are perennial suckbags that give away victories to Brady, or that Brady-led teams regularly beat the Jete (and other division opponents) because he's a great quarterback?
