Gordon being held out for a quarter tonight at Buffalo for being late

That is odd for BB though. He usually holds guys out for the whole game for being late. The fact he is being so lenient here is a break from his past actions.

It probably has to do with the fact that Gronk isn't ready and they are hoping to continue to build chemistry with him and Brady and they don't want to delay that process.

Welker wasn't held out for a whole game.

BB typically makes sure the punishment fits the crime..

Or just a faulty source. Either way, I don't think Belichick went back on it, either. This is the same guy that benched Butler and started Rowe in his place in the Super Bowl.

I heard something about an hour ago that might explain the Butler benching in the SB. According to the man I spoke to, Butler was suffering from a concussion and Belichick was trying to keep it quiet leading up to the SB by having him monitored by the medial staff of the Bruins. Apparently BB didn't trust the Pats media.

And, the reason that Butler was crying before the SB was because he knew that he wasn't going to be allowed to play because of the concussion. It could also explain why he was very supportive of Belichick after he left.

This could also explain why so many players supported Belichick.

Um you might want to delete that before anyone at the NFL office sees it.

If that were the case... why was he even active? Why did he play a special teams snap?

That story makes no sense at all.

I'm not buying it. IIRC Gronk was in concussion protocol all week and he was activated. Why treat MB different?

He was sick, behind in the game prep and admitted he wasn't ready for whatever reason. Additionally, BB decided not to play him for whatever reason.

We will never know why. Lets move on.

Would love to see Gordon pull in a couple of more long ones I have have him for two Drops on long balls that hit him right in the hands. Clean that up Josh: Brady can't throw it and catch it he's not Marcus Mariota.
Yep, he definitely should've caught the bomb from Brady during the first quarter. That alone cost us at least 3 points.

Are you saying he was held out by the team or the league?

Yea I'm hoping for a big game from Gordon on Sunday. Especially with Green Bay's best safety being shipped off.

Gordon's best game far was obviously against the Bears, although it was a bit of a "quiet" 100 yard game considering a big chunk of that came on 1 play with lots of YAC. Memorable 4th down catch though. I'd like to see him and Brady finally start connecting on 2+ chunk yardage plays per game.

Sports media personality says 'Gordon will be held out for part of the upcoming game for disciplinary reasons'.
Gordon isn't held out for part of that upcoming game.
Following that game, same sports media personality says 'BB didn't hold him out of the game in order to spite me and my coworkers'.

Now that's the kind of crack reporting his profession has been sorely missing.

Butler played during the superbowl for the one punt that the game had.

If it was a concussion he would not have taken a special teams snap.
If he had been benched for punishment reasons he would not have taken a special teams snap.

Ultimately it all boils down to BB though that Butler, the guy who played 98% of the regular season snaps, wasn't as good as the third stringer that replaced him. BB thought this so vehemently that he never strayed from that desired course, and the patriots failed to get a single stop and ended up with the worst defensive performance in modern day superbowl history.

Someone is going to say that MB said he wasn't ready to play. I'll respond with well heres a quote where Butler said that he absolutely WAS ready to play and could have made the difference in the game. That other person will then say something like "well what else is he going to say" to try and make the quote i provided appear to be less valid. Then this whole discussion will merge with the Butler thread.

TLDR BB cost the patriots a superbowl.
