Rumor: Pats discussed reacquiring Jamie Collins

The game boils down to a few plays in big games.

A stop on a crucial 3rd down can be the turning point in a big game. A sack or strip fumble. Impact plays.

Can Collins bring that? Yes he can.

Collins has the ability to make plays on crucial 3rd downs, I agree. But there's certainly examples of him showing embarrassing effort at times in Cleveland. What happens if one of those moments is on a crucial 3rd down?

You brought up McCourty in another post, and you do pretty often in threads about Collins, as if every person here thinks McCourty is playing like a hall of famer right now. As I've said before, Devin is already here. Jamie Collins is not. Would I trade for McCourty right now at his current cap hit? Not a chance in hell.

Wow the situation must be worse than imagine if we have to want him back. With Rodgers looming, this D already look hopeless. BILL DON'T DO IT!

WR1 Gordon
WR2 Edelman
WR3 Hogan
WR4 Dorsett
WR5 Patterson

Where would Dez fit in? Nowhere, to be honest, considering his rumored low intellect, the complexity of this offense, and his diminished skills.
Hogan is the weak link here. If we are to take the rumor at face value the team must see his chance for improving this year as pretty slim. I hate to say it but I have to agree. Based on what I’ve seen of him at three games so far he’s a shell of his former self.

want him back.
?

I can imagine that the Pats discussion could have gone something like this:

CASERIO: Hey, Bill. Just got a text from Dorsey wondering if we're interested in reacquiring Collins. Whaddya think?

Without looking up, BB raises his middle finger.

CASERIO texts: "Thanks for the offer, John. We've discussed it and decided that it doesn't seem appropriate for us at this time."

Hogan? A "shell of his former self"? Which three games were those?

Hogans most recent three games:

IND = 3/4 tgts (75%), 34 yds (11.33 ypc)
KCY = 4/4 tgts (100%), 78 yds (19.5 ypc)
@CHI = 6/7 tgts (86%), 63 yds (10.5 ypc)

TOTAL = 13/15 tgts (87%), 175 yds (13.5 ypc)

I have had a chance to see Collins up close out here in NE Ohio. At times, he looks like the athletic freak we saw with the Patriots. At other times (often within the same game), he looks lost and disinterested. Kirksey and Schobert have moved well ahead of him at LB. Even Burgess is pressing him for playing time. Collins still has freakish athletic ability but it's difficult to get up for games with a team as disfunctional as the Browns. With the current firings of Jackson and Haley, the turmoil is reaching critical mass. I'm sure Collins would love to leave this dumpster fire of a franchise and, if BB throws him a lifeline, he might play his heart out for the Pats. The one good thing in acquiring Collins is that he should know the system and can "hit the ground running". While I would rather see Hasaan Reddick in New England, Collins is worth a shot, IMHO.

He could have at least thrown in an "olé" afterwards haha

That looks like a total lack of effort/enthusiasm
Collins looks done. Dude looks slow, out of shape, and completely uninterested.

Kid got paid, and then stopped giving a ****.

Hogan is turning 31 next season and is a free agent so I wouldn't be surprised at all if he wasn't in the future plans.

It's pretty obvious that ever since he stopped being the #1 option, he's been his old self. Just disappointing what we saw when he got a temporary promotion.

For a couple games there, the Pats had only Hogan, Dorsett and Patterson as available WRs, and only three guys at other positions who were legit pass-catchers (and healthy).

So, if by "promotion" you mean something like, "Hey, Corporal! You've just been promoted to PFC! Now, crawl over to that enemy bunker and drop a couple grenades in there!"

That's exactly what I meant, as it happens.

Marginally more clever than Danny "Playoff" Amendola.
I miss Danny. Dude was money. Plus,we don't have Edelman insurance anymore...not a fan of Dorsett game. Bust!

So many rumours, can you imagine what this board would be like if there was a rumour about Julio . ? That is one rumour I would get behind completely !!

When Edelman was in jail, Dorsett was performing as well as regular season Amendola ever did. If we miss Amendola, we won't know until January or February.

Are you serious with this post?

Are you familiar with his regular season body of work? The dude was literally a different person in January/February. In 2013, 2015, and 2017 he put up sub-Edelman numbers in the Edelman role and we got 0 rings. Good things happened when his role was minimized.
