The Josh Gordon Thread: Pats Officially Acquire Gordon for Fifth-Round Pick

It'll be interesting to see where he's traded. I think the people who say he won't be coming here are right, if he's not able to put football first he won't make it here.

But it'd definitely be a good litmus test if we were interested or not if he gets traded for like, a 7th round pick to someone else.

I feel like this guy was forcing his way out of Cleveland, I really hope he can land in a nice place and rebuild his career.

Man if that happens Cleveland has a bigger problem than just football operations. Their environment seems ultra toxic and disfunctional. It must be hard to play for Cleveland. If I'm the owner I would move the F out of that town and start over, I wouldn't even keep the Browns name. Total reset.

It's because he is immensely talented and we've seen what he can do on the field. If he ever got his head screwed on right (however unlikely) he could be a big time contributor.
Unlikely, as you point out.

If it's low risk why not take a chance?
Because of the time and energy wasted on trying to get his head on straight so his talents can be effectively applied. Meanwhile, it messes with team chemistry and other hard-working WRs will get fewer reps in building important rapport with Brady while the "project" is under way.

So, they announce his release, then expect to make a trade afterwards. Those Browns really know how to use leverage.
probably a few low waiver wire teams saw the news and called them.

A team low in the list might give up a 6th in exchange for cutting in line. then the bidding war starts, they might end up with a 5th rounder

They appear to just want him out of the building ASAP.

I also wonder if there's a point where you're better off being open about what you're doing because if they called around the league, out of the blue, offering up their ultra talented and ultra troubled WR, I think most GMs would be suspicious to the point of not wanting to be interested.

Yes.....

Low risk, High Reward !

I seen the dude torch Talib at Gillette a couple years ago & I can’t help but want him.

A minute 5 seconds into this video.

I love to gamble & Gordon is a major gamble.

In case people say that was ages ago this is Gordon last year vs Hayward a pro bowl CB and PFF rated 1 at corner

Would’ve had 100+ yds and a TD with a back qb instead of Kazier

Former fantasy stud Josh Gordon on road to regain stardom

This is Randy Moss all over again

Schefter is saying he tweaked his hammy in a video promotion shoot. Browns might of had enough, but if this is all it was and non drug related let’s take a shot.

I'm surprised so many folks here want the Pats to take a flyer on this sadly/seriously troubled guy.

I'm surprised anyone would not be thinking that it might be worthwhile to at least look into the possibility of fielding

Edelman
Gronk
Gordon
White
Hogan/Dorsett/Burkhead

on passing downs.

Agreed but that Cabot tweet sealed it for me. He’s not clean. There had to be more than just showing up late for his release. Now we know the reason.

She’s throwing crap on the wall like she always does.

Take her with a huge bucket filled with salt.

Brady should go to Kraft and threaten to retire if they don't trade for Gordon lol.

Dude is done. Pass. By done I meant one more strike and it’s night night forever. NFL career is done

If it takes that much time and energy then we cut bait. If he gets with the program great. Giving it a shot isn't hindering or holding us back in any way.

I do not buy this argument that it messes with team chemistry or the other receivers. He is another guy who will need to earn his spot and if he doesn't, good bye.

This isn't like the past where we would actually have to part with a semi-valuable draft pick to acquire him.

She is never right and has no sources.

She is Cleveland’s version of Felger, except she would put up a better fight.

Felger & Mazz couldn’t fight there way out of a wet paper bag.

Flag football is more than they could handle

I am for giving him a try. Release him if he can't fit in or is a problem. Bill has worked wonders with problem players before. What's to lose, a few bucks.
