Yep.

The other thing the draft bashers on this board don't account is the draft is low percentage. I'll need to dig up the link but the article from 2016 tracked all players drafted in the last 30 years and tracked the % were on NFL rosters for 5 years

1st was 50%
2nd was 20%
3rd was 15%
4 thru 7th was single digits

No question BB has had it rough in the 2rd but it's not like all the other teams are kicking ass.
The Emperor is hitting closer to Zero% than to 20% during the 2nd round.

ATL thoughts on Richards (from Reiss):
Patriots assistants answer the question: Why get into coaching?

What are the Falcons saying about their acquisition of former Patriots safety Jordan Richards, whom they acquired for a conditional 2020 seventh-round pick?

  • GM Thomas Dimitroff: "We've been really honed in on that No. 2 safety spot through the whole offseason and into camps. We just felt that Jordan was a guy that fit in well for us. He's a tough dude that can step up in there and be a strong safety-type for us. He's a smart guy who has good versatility to us. He is a very urgent type of football player as well. We obviously have a good working relationship with New England, and it was right and fairly easy navigation through that trade. We're happy to have him here."

  • Head coach Dan Quinn: "I think he'll have a big role on [special] teams, too, knowing that's been part of what he's done in his past. We actually worked him out when he was coming out from Stanford. We've known about him, followed him, and now we're excited to have him on board.''
Jordan Richards is a enigma.
Tests well passes the eye and team mate test
Cant tackle or stop a pass at all.

Cutting entire 2nd OL but Karras (who cleared waivers last yr and had up and down preseason, esp. at center) that was praised by Dante, kept clean sheet on most part despite doing it for hesitant Hoyer and was among highest ranked units/individuals over 4 preseason games by PFF is still puzzling to me . esp. since there is a roster spot open.

Im curious to see how they go about it and why they did it like this. I wonder if they might have a deal with Tobin they are bringing him back so they could release Croston and decide among the two (if that is the case at all) after waiver claims (possibly bringing Croston back on PS if he clears and Tobin on 53)

I thought they might do something similar at IOL backup where Schwenke and Karras were pretty equal with Karras having PS eligibility..

Or do they have a deal in place with another guy..

What's your beef with BB? All he's done is put together the greatest run in NFL history for the last 19 years. Unprecedented success.

Haven't you ever scratched your head a little when Belichick drafts a player like
Richards several rounds ahead of where he was rated?

I sure did I still remember BB viciously defending the Richards Wilson picks

Shudders.

His stature looks like a NFL player
He doesnt look like Brady did at the combine.

That's true I guess. My understanding of "eye test" was on the field, where he most certainly did not look good.

Replace Brady with a 26 year old and that one love drops them 0.3 years on average. Given that the difference between oldest and youngest teams is just 1.6 years, that one move alone would probably put them near the middle of the pack.
Throw in an older kicker like Gost or Janikowski and/or a an older long snapper ( one team has a 39 y.o. LS) and it does skew them as you posted. Take out the ones at the extremes or use median age for a more accurate assessment...

Where the talking heads have a guy "rated" doesn't matter much if you want the guy and some other team drafting soon after you wants him, too.

And haven't you ever wondered how many much better safeties were drafted after Richards was?

Valentine is a bit of a shock to me
