My take post roster is:

1.) we have the slowest defense in the Bb era. How are we getting off the field on 3rd down.

2.) the o line is woefully thin. Cannon is a banana, Brown is an over weight walrus and Karras plays too high.

3.) we have no coverage linebackers worth a dime.

4.) Burkhead is a banana. I really hope hill does not get hurt,

5.) we got a lot of special teams demons. But not a lot of talent on offense. Is this bb’s war with Brady spilling over to the field?

Despite this silliness they're going 12-4 and reaching the AFCCG at minimum.

Did you see the contract Carlos Dunlap just received? Other than a single year with 13 sacks, he's been a 7 - 8 sack / season player. I was shocked that he commanded $15 million / year. He's a good player, but I'm not sure he's better than Flowers.
I think if Flowers sniffs 10 sacks, some desperate team will overpay him.

I see a surprise trade coming. No way Brady could be satisfied with what they have on offense.

The D could have major problems if the DB’s not named Gilmore don't play well which will expose McCourty and Chung at S. Bentley could be a nice thumper at LB though. Pass rush could be pretty good.

With that being said, every team’s fans are freaking out like we are right now.

We will get some boost at LB position before trade deadline.

Total YScm
?

Brandin Cooks 1122
Dion Lewis 1110
Rob Gronkowski*+ 1084
Danny Amendola 659
James White 600
Rex Burkhead 518
Chris Hogan 456
Mike Gillislee 398
Phillip Dorsett 201

The amount of offense we get from each player is so evenly spread out. This is so unique and has been our trademark. TB will be fine once JE comes back. If Patterson and Sony can get to the 500 total offense mark, I am happy.

I saw that he's getting a 3 yr/$45M extension, but that he got money this year, so it's actually over 4 years. So it's about 13M/yr.

Dunlap also has 42 pass deflections and 16 forced fumbles over his career on top of his 64.5sacks. 8 sacks/season.

You're also forgetting that this is the Bungles paying him.

Trey Flowers only has 2 FF, 4 PD and 16.5 sacks in 2 seasons. How can you say that Dunlap isn't better?
Season averages: Dunlap v. Flowers
5 PD > 2PD. 2FF > 1FF 8 sacks > 6.75 sacks.

Again, I don't see Flowers getting more than 10M. He's not a top tier DE yet. He's close, but not yet. If he breaks out this year, great. Then I agree. But if he puts up the same 6-7 sacks, I don't see it.

When are ps squads formed?
Starts at 1:00 tomorrow. The Pats practice at 3:00, so they may sign more of they own guys who are still in town for that one practice and then make some switches with other teams’ cuts on their day off on Monday.

Who gives a **** ? He is a player and not in charge of roster management.

Also this hyperbole needs to stop. We will have a top5 offense in the league and have enough talent on offense. Stop just looking at only WRs while ignoring TEs and RBs.

1. Shocker: Izzo over all 2nd unit OTs praised by Dante.

After big investments at OT for the second yr in a row, Pats are now down to 3T - Cannon coming from injury, Waddle injury prone and Trent Brown with questions of conditioning.. Strange move to say the least. Pats are playing with tackle fire..

2. Love for new DB blood confirmed: both Crossen and JC make it together with Dawson. JC keeps the 15-yr streak of UDFA being on Pats initial 53 roster. Love for Keionta Davis confirmed as well.

3. Two cases of Foxboro flu: Berrios (who was warming up before game 4) and Sam - not ready for NFL yet, intriguing so could be lost on waivers

3. Unbalanced positions for the moment: 7OL : 10DL; 21-O : 25 D

4. ? at punt return (banged up Burkhead, Hogan and fair catching Chung remain - unless they roll the dice with Patterson - as game 3 hinted)

5. Who's the 53rd man?

6. Anyone else goes on IR besides Izzo (reportedly)?
___

here the rundown of the roster:
Patriots Initial Roster Includes Just 52 Players, Three Full-Time Receivers
I have no clue how it will sound on the field reality during the season but I am thrilled about our DB corp.I hope they will give us fun and joy.

You don’t need the open spot because you can cut in conjunction with the trade.
Like if bolden wasn’t cut and you make a trade, you correspondingly cut bolden.
The partner would have no need for the patriots to be under 53.

On paper you are right.

I don't know how "straight forward" it is to just cut exactly at the moment as is necessary. Maybe they cut him to have additional spots for potential waiver claims. I know that timing wise they should be able to do it anyway (first end in the cut as a transaction and then immediately after that the claim..) but I guess as with most bureaucracies there are some details or inefficiencies.

Long story short. It would be the most shocking preseason move this year if the Bolden cut was anything but temporary.

Where is the expected post about BB not knowing about how to draft?? Not disappointed at all in this roster.. BB and staff have always made hard decisions about what is best for the team, and seldom does he hang on to a 2nd & 3rd round pick who is not playing up to expectations.. Vincent Valentine was somewhat surprising, but given the talent at DT less so...

This roster will be tweaked in the upcoming week, as much as I think Hollister and RB's can take up some of the slack, we are too thin at WR and look for additions there..

It seems almost certain the Pats will add WR and OT depth after Izzo goes to IR/Eligible. However, those acquisitions would bring the roster up to 53, so I don't know where that leaves Bolden - unless the Pats are trading away someone.

It seems more likely to me that the Pats would add a depth WR from the pool of newly-minted FAs than to trade for one. Possibly the same with OT.

Pats cuts who seem likely to me to get claimed include:

Webb
Lewis
Valentine
C.Jones
Gillislee
McCarron

Possibly also:

Lucien
M.Flowers
Harris

For the Pats PSquad ...

The Pats typically keep a total of 10 OL between the active roster and the PSquad, probably so that they can field a full 5-man scout-team OL. If the Pats are going with 8 OL on the active roster, I'd expect two on the Psquad, one of whom might be Croston.

Etling might be signed to the PSquad, but possibly Rudock instead (if he isn't claimed elsewhere).

Beyond that, I'd guess that the composition of the PSquad/scout-team includes:
1 LB
2 WR ... probably /PR, possibly Lucien, Maye or Reedy (again)
1 DT ... possibly Herron or Atkins
possibly Muhammad or Farrow (RBs)
possibly Wiltz and/or Travis
possibly Poggi

Son, lay off the moonshine.

If Bentley builds on his preseason success, and Jackson/Crossen develop fast enough, and Grigsby succeed at Richards's role as star, this is going to be the one of the fastest defense we've seen in the BB era, not just in the backfield, but up front. Both Rivers and Clayborn have speed off the edge.

It's BBs fault for coaching and developing Adam Butler which made VV expendable.

BB the coach undermined BB the GM

The Falcons cut Austin Pasztor. He’s big (6’7”, 310), versatile (G/T) and has started for two teams, played for three. Still only 27. I wonder if he gets a shot here.

The hyperbole is strong with this one.

What indicators are there for slowest defense? The annual 'WRs finding holes in the preseason zone concepts'? Maybe the league wide problem of how to cover RBs out of the backfield (why do we lament that so bad when White, Burk, and Lewis do/did the same and more against our opponents?)?

Banana is the new synonym for injury prone?

What war with Brady? If there was a 'war' Brady would be in San Fran, not the other guy. You mean the expected give and take of a HOF QB and HOF Coach in regards to who runs what aspect of the team? That should just be expected by two very alpha males in a sport specifically designed for alpha males particularly as long as they've been together.

There's a ton of questions about the team. They've turned over a good portion of the roster again this year, but they do that every year. That hinders in regards to scheme execution and complexity especially early, but helps in re-igniting the drive to get through the "Super Bowl" malaise that strikes many teams.

The OL is a question due to new faces and injury - no doubt, but the preseason is often treated like regular season by posters...it's not. Many times a player held out of preseason would go in a regular season and almost certainly a playoff game. We don't know how much of these hold outs are the variety vice more serious/longer term issues.

The defense is a question too. Can they gel in the secondary? Can they generate consistent pressure (not sacks, pressure) on the DL? Can they stop the run first and foremost?!?

Bottom line: it's not the sky is falling, but neither is it unicorns and rainbows.

IIRC vested veterans contracts are guaranteed for the year if they are on the roster for game #1. I wonder if whoever they bring in will be after the Houston game so if it doesn't work out, it is less of a cap hit.....

I don't see how IZZO is a surprise if they are waiting to place him on the IR so he can come back later in the season.

Ryan Hannable Speculated that Sony Michel could be headed for the IR.

Duke Dawson is someone who people haven't seen in awhile and he could be headed to the IR since he was last seen on lower fields and not in any game.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Davis cut tomorrow afternoon or Monday to bring back an OT and send Davis to the PS.
Basically they are putting the entire draft class on IR? That’s ridiculous. Dawson and Michel are not going on IR.

Davis will not make it onto the practice squad. They also ran a lot of 5-2-4 with 3 DEs and 4-2-5 with 3 DEs in the preseason.

I'm not saying no, but if the Pats were interested wouldn't both teams have just agreed to him in the Jordan Richards trade instead of that joke of a conditional pick

Hannable should never be taken seriously.
