1. Shocker: Izzo over all 2nd unit OTs praised by Dante.

After big investments at OT for the second yr in a row, Pats are now down to 3T - Cannon coming from injury, Waddle injury prone and Trent Brown with questions of conditioning.. Strange move to say the least. Pats are playing with tackle fire..

2. Love for new DB blood confirmed: both Crossen and JC make it together with Dawson. JC keeps the 15-yr streak of UDFA being on Pats initial 53 roster. Love for Keionta Davis confirmed as well.

3. Two cases of Foxboro flu: Berrios (who was warming up before game 4) and Sam - not ready for NFL yet, intriguing so could be lost on waivers

3. Unbalanced positions for the moment: 7OL : 10DL; 21-O : 25 D

4. ? at punt return (banged up Burkhead, Hogan and fair catching Chung remain - unless they roll the dice with Patterson - as game 3 hinted)

5. Who's the 53rd man?

6. Anyone else goes on IR besides Izzo (reportedly)?
___

here the rundown of the roster:
Patriots Initial Roster Includes Just 52 Players, Three Full-Time Receivers

I'm actually fairly happy with the cutdowns thus far. There were no major surprises.

The fact they think highly enough of Izzo to give him a chance to return this year is interesting. I'm happy for Grissom as well.

But this roster tells me the next few days are still going to be very active and I'm reserving judgement until then. I dont expect only 3 wrs to continue nor be so light on the o line.

I don't see how IZZO is a surprise if they are waiting to place him on the IR so he can come back later in the season.

Ryan Hannable Speculated that Sony Michel could be headed for the IR.

Duke Dawson is someone who people haven't seen in awhile and he could be headed to the IR since he was last seen on lower fields and not in any game.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Davis cut tomorrow afternoon or Monday to bring back an OT and send Davis to the PS.

Flowers cut maybe but I didn’t watch much preseason
And
Somehow cut dual threat DE5? Bill has lost it.
Your thinking of Tre Flowers. We cut Marquis Flowers. He is a linebacker #59. You'll probably remember Eagles rb catching a tightly contest td catch in the superbowl over him.

Surprised at the WR situation. I guess, barring deals unknown, that Burkhead and Hollister will be taking up tne slack if needed.

I was thinking of Marquis, but maybe you can fill me in. Who is our new cover LB? That must be the biggest hole on our healthy defense.

Roster looks good except its light on wr and heavy defensive tackles. I guess Holister and Gronk can function as a wrs. We need to sign a fat dt to at least the ps.

Don't have one but it will be better this year because in obvious situations a db will be used instead of a lb and it will not be Jordan Richards.

They don’t have to cut anyone. Izzo to Ir puts them at 51.

That raises a question: why did they IR (without ability to return) both Berrios and Sam today? They could easily have kept one or the other on the 53 today.

I actually wondered that about Bolden assuming their intention is to bring him back. There was no need to cut him him even if they do intend to bring him back.

Id guess information is incomplete at the moment. Another player should be on the roster now.. maybe a trade that didn't get through officially yet..

Unless they're targeting a trade at a position outside of WR and OL which seem to be the likelier options for those 52 and 53 slots.
Huh?
Izzo to Ir then add OL and WR/PR. 53.

My guess is that the Doctors told them that neither Sam nor Berrios would be ready by the 8th game of the season.

That's what I said. But if they were planning to trade for someone outside of those two positions then some sort of further cut would be needed. That's all I was getting at.

I was confused that you said trading outside of ol or wr was more likely.

Something to make @mains happy . unless Pats are bringing Dez for whatever he thinks he's worth . they should start the season well north of 7M..

There may be more to it than that. Since they didn’t make the final cut, aren’t they waived/injured and have to go through waivers and then could be released with an injury settlement? So maybe they aren’t staying.
