Gotta say I know next to nothing about him besides his HC stints but it's still sad news.

10 years ago he marched his team right into our stadium and won 38-13. The rest of his career didn't go quite as well but not a lot of coaches can say they did that in their 3rd game.

That Wildcat offense was brilliant...for a while.....and he is the last coach to win the AFC East in the Belichick/Brady era (Herman Edwards and Dave Wannastedt were the other two).

Yeah that game pissed me off. I believe we were the first opponent when they unleashed the wildcat offense. Ronnie brown tore us a new one that day. One of the few games it was safe to say BB was out coached. RIP

I wish he had done it to Harbaugh. Wild cat would have had a much shorter stint in the league.

that's so sad...not old at all...born in 61...riposa in pace...

The kind of situation that hits close to home. It can happen to anybody.
I bet those doctors that saw him feel terrible.

This is what really sucks about being a doctor. They are not perfect and don’t have the answers every time.

Really sad to hear this.

Both my grandmothers died this way. In the kitchen, just dropped over, found on floor with dishclothes in their hands. When it happens, it happens. Too young, thoughts to his family and friends.

We are SO close to the routine use of technology that will immediately unmask any coronary issue. Ugh.

Gone too soon. RIP Tony Sparano, condolences to his family and friends.

The kind of situation that hits close to home. It can happen to anybody.

I was 60 when I started to have mild chest pressure. Didn't really bother me at first, since I thought it was my asthma, and it was a hot and humid July that year. After about a week, it got so that walking more than 20-30 feet left me winded and tired.

Finally, a Saturday morning, I decided enough was enough and drove myself to the local ER (just a few miles away) to see about a breathing treatment. The ER docs set me up with one, and did some blood tests. They came right back and said it wasn't my lungs. My heart was the issue.

They wired me up and all that, and an angiogram showed I had 3 blocked arteries with tiny blockages in the other 3. They transported me to the cardiac care unit at Maine Medical, in Portland, and after a few days monitoring and testing, the surgeons did 6 bypasses on me in an 8-hour procedure. Turns out I had blood clots that formed slowly and blocked my arteries.

Anyway, I'm fine now. Had a CT scan a few months ago, along with a chemical stress test and bloodwork, and my ticker is fine with no indication of further clots forming. So there's that. I'm not posting this for sympathy, but to show it can happen to anyone for any number of reasons.

I pray that the Angels of His Mercy will bring solace and comfort to all the coach's family and friends.

This is shocking.. Thoughts and prayers to the Sparano family.

This is also why, with a family history of heart issues, when I was having syncope issues while laughing, I made it a point to get seen..

R.I.P. Tony....off to the land of the first down fist pump..

Remember the time Tony nailed a lobster trap to the ceiling in the Miami locker room during Pats week? Some of the players had never seen one and did not know what it was.

Wasnt there another time that Tony put an axe in the locker room and the Kicker cut his foot on it?

He loved his work. Sad to see Tony go.
