. . . seriously, though, good news. Cardona is an impressive young man and should spend his career here. A long snapper and fullback signing, all in one day, though -- that's got to make BB happy. ;)

@Ian really needs to incorporate that playful dope slap rating in the site upgrades. Until then...yet another 'Useful' is accrued for yet another creative thread title, lol

Honestly I am kind of surprised by this. Yes he has been good since he came here but when you look at his performance in the super bowl it makes you wonder if this is the right move.

To have your worst game in one of the 2 most important games of your career is generally gives me pause about if he is the guy you want.

It was only one snap though. For a guy who (as far as I can remember) never botched a snap outside of that one?m, I’m glad to have him on the team. Everyone makes mistakes every now and again. Brady threw a pick six in a Super Bowl and Vinatieri missed two kicks in the same Super Bowl

More comedy gold from 1 Patriot Place.

Meanwhile, our BEST Offensive Lineman AND our BEST Defensive Lineman are entering the final year of their contracts...where are THEIR extensions, Billy, you feckin DPS?!?

Actually, these are the kinds of signings that win football games. Just think of the games lost on a bad snap or missed block.

Captain, I know you're smarter than that. Cardona and Develin are two players that signed for peanuts compared to what Mason and Flowers will command. Those contracts are much easier to agree to, therefore get done first.

Seriously, do you think Trey and Shaq were in Bill's office today begging to re-sign and he said "no guys, you just aren't as important as the FB and LS."

It is considerably easier to sign those types of guys, and they don’t command the money that Flowers or Mason do. These signings build a complete, deep roster, and don’t eat nearly enough cap space to worry about signing other guys

Somehow, I get the feeling that the Devlin/Cardona signings aren't going to result in Captain Stone having to go the the hospital 4 hours from now.

Not for that reason, anyways.

You may as well forget about retaining Mason. No well in hell that they’re paying that kind of money to him, and that’s not even taking the position into account in a year where they’ll have 25+ free agents.

Mason is just the kind of overrated player that will demand close to top dollar on the open market, but has enough holes in his game that it would be hard to justify paying him what other teams will offer. Rewatching the SB vs ATL and PHI shows his weakness at pass protection, which basically makes him a terribly expensive run blocking RG, even if he is very good at it.

Resigning smart, reliable, low maintenance and good role players to this team is all part of the equation that helps this winning tradition..

You might say that Jordan Richards fits part of this profile also (not sure he is a good role player), but do not want to mention his name..

Lonnie Paxton wasn't available

I boldly predict brisk jersey sales for Joe Cardona and James Develin.
