Adam Schefter: Brady not yet committed to playing in 2018

I just hope he plays this year, gets a ring, then ends it. It’s obvious we can no longer dream of the playing until 47 stuff.
Agree. I'd like to see Tom play until he sucks but I don't see that happening......

Maybe if BB didn't screw up the Superbowl this wouldn't be happen.

Special thanks to Brady as well for pulling this BS the year they traded garoppolo.
I know wtf is up with that. Why did this franchise have to get stuck with brady and Belichick.

Wish we had Grap rare miss by the front office and if Brady or Kraft forced BBs hand then thats f'd of them and cery short sighted.
Drinking in the morning is not always the best way to go..

The problem is this came from Schefty. Hes not 100% right all the time but the man does not make **** up.
Yes but when has brady been an yr to yr guy to decide to come back ? This is really a stretch in my opinion.

I dunna know, man. This situation hasn't come up before.

I’ve almost been wishing that he would’ve after beating Atlanta. There would have been no better way to end your career. The ultimate storybook ending.

Brady is greedy for super bowls, not that that’s a bad thing or anything.

Yep.

What you say is very plausible.

Its possible after the Tom v Time taping (or even before) he did some major soul searching and course-corrected his life.

It happens. Look at Josh. One minute hes gone the next hes back.

Just since you mentioned TvT. Chopra could just be posing here to be all "oh no comment from me, you know, since I'm an awesome Tom Brady TB12 ® Insider. Speaking of which Alex and I hittin' the pliability HARD today!"

It’s doubtful he falls.

Browns take Allen, then all of sudden Giants already telegraphed Darnold if he’s there. That means Jets are near certain to go for Rosen if he’s there and if they go Mayfield you still have to get past the Broncos and hope you can trade last the Bills if that happens.

The safest bet for Rosen is trading for the 2 it’s risky to even trade for the 4.

And again you are saying goodbye to a massive amount of picks for him.

Let’s put it this way. The jets traded 6 and 3 2nds to move up to 3. That’s more than us giving up all 4 picks to move up to 2. The jets screwed up chances for pretty much every time minus buffalo to move up to 2. It would cost us all 4 picks plus next years 1 and maybe more.

I've blocked that out. Too tragic to think about.

Understandable, of course. But it's not irrelevant to today.

No one on this board could possibly doubt Bill Belichick's greatness as a football coach -- planner, judge, teacher. But if you ever doubt his greatness as a leader -- and as a human being -- think what it must have taken to bring his team through that.

For the team to have the success it did in 2013 may have been the greatest accomplishment of all.

Why would he want to play for a coach who sabotaged his own team? Notice in the sound fx and all the stuff that shows the game during the sideline, it was mainly the assistants coaching? Where was Bill coaching up the team like he was in 49 and 51? Oh that’s right he was just standing close to the field watching. Not even trying to get in refs heads like he usually does
You are saying Belichick who loves the game and plays to win at all costs threw the game ? Really ? He had a bad day, brain fart , stupid coaching job all are valid arguing points but throwing the game is really insulting to someone who has meant everything to the franchise.
Boston fans in general seem to turn on their players and coaches faster than anyone .Its sad.

Of course he had to tweet. Had to position himself to possessing inside info on Tom's future. If he didn't have daddy's money he'd be like the rest of us.

I really don't like Tom's friends outside of the NEP. Bunch a remoras.

I don’t think toms going anywhere yet. There’s a couple reasons. Peyton’s passing record and one more ring at least.

If the unthinkable happens and he does retire then I think we will know something messed up is going on and it’s not that he suddenly decided to just spend time with the family. I’ll never believe that

Yes you absolutely can if you think the GOAT is only going to give you 1 or 2 more seasons.
Not if you have a team built to win now. You take those 1-2 seasons and try to maximize your immediate Super Bowls and look for the successor while you’re doing it. Kind of like the concept of earnings. A dollar now is worth more than a dollar in the future because it can be immediately invested.

Unfortunately, if TB does retire, it'll put a black mark on his legacy in New England. Our last memories will be of him screwing the Patriots on his way out the door. Not a good way to end it.
Agreed, which would be very out of character for him based on the past 17+ years.. I've always been on the keep Brady train, but that's because he's always conveyed that he was all in.. If losing the superbowl changed his mind, not sure I can respect that. Many decisions (one massive one in particular) have been made based on TB's willingness to keep playing.. Going back on that would and should go against him, IMO.

When you don't put the best players on the field, and have your most consistent CB on the bench for the entire game, it's hard NOT to think that he threw the game. That's basically the definition of throwing a game.
