Celtics 2017/2018 Thread

We could knock off the Cavs with Kyrie at least...but it would be a BATTLE....LeBron is the toughest 48 minute player I have ever seen...it would take 7 games though.

We aren't beating the Dubs and Rockets in the Finals...we need Hayward for that at least...

BIG win last night...

*If* we win on Saturday at home vs. the Raptors...we will only be 2 games back from the #1 seed. The Raptors play the Cavs then host the Celtics next week....

I am HOPING that 2nd Raptors game will at least be important.....grabbing the #1 seed means we avoid the Cavs in round 2...and probably play the Sixers...while dangerous...less dangerous than LeBron or the Wiz with Wall.

Be careful what you wish for. The Sixers are as hot as any team in the league right now, 9-1 over their last 10.

At any rate, if Kyrie is back by round 2, I like their chances.

Smelltics will be lucky to escape even the first round. Without Irving, their Guards are not only the Worst of any PO team, they're the Worst in the entire Association.

You're embarrassing yourself again. Knocked off the Raptors tonight. Terry Rozier had 21 points and 7 assists and was +11. Over the past 10 games he's averaged 17.2 points a game.

And of course, Jaylen Brown, who you claimed would never be able to shoot, is shooting .461 and .381 from three.

You probably shouldn't be in the business of making predictions about this team.

Rozier man.....he'll be making a lot of money this off-season.

I expect Smart to be gone and Rozier to stay.

So, we blew it in Milwaukee with a BS double lane violation call...then lost to the Raptors yesterday...and now Kyrie is out for the year...

Right now, I am unsure we can even get out of round 1....but I hope we can push it to 5 or 6 games in round 2. I think that should be our benchmark.

Next year, I think 60+ wins and a #1 seed is in the books....with Hayward/Kyrie coming back.

Why in the world would they want to pay Smart even one penny more than the vet minimum?

He'll get plenty of money from somebody. I doubt the Celtics will match it.

But:

...when Smart is on the floor, the Celtics outscore their opponent by 11.3 points per 100 possessions (roughly one game). That's 7.9 points per 100 possessions better than when he's off the court. In other words, the Celtics jump from a solid team to an elite team when Smart is on the court.

But that's obviously the defense, right? After all, Smart is an omni-defender who can match up with all five positions, a bull in a china shop. The Celtics' defense is 1.5 points per 100 possessions better with him on the floor. That's where the good play comes from, right?

Except ... here's the thing ... when Smart is on the floor, the Celtics have a 106 offensive rating. That's second best among rotation players, and 6.8 points better than when he's on the bench.

OK I gotta admit, those are quite compelling numbers ^

But he still is terrible with the ball in his brick-laying hands.

Going to my first ever Celtics game Saturday for the 1st playoff game.
I bought two 1st row loge seats for $500 total ... figure i would do my 1 time right.

Coming from the south unsure whether to take the train to South Station and walk the 30 minutes to the TD Garden .... do that and take the T from South Station to North Station or I hear people park at the science museum and walk 10 minutes to the garden.

That or any other advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'd take the T to North Station myself. The walk from the science museum might be nice on a good spring day, but not now. :)

I don't want to be negative about this team but something has stuck out to me. It happened in the first playoff game but luckily didn't cost them the win.

On too many occasions they've had a very comfortable lead with 3-5 minutes left and then rushed off a few shots rather than let the clock run a little. It has cost them a few games during the year.

They're still playing incredible though, especially for a team with so many key injuries, so I don't want to knock them too much.

Wade certainly had a return to his glory days there, but I think Embid will be back next game. I don't hold out a lot of hope for the Heat although I'd love to see them derail The Process.

They’ve been playing them well although I don’t know wtf happened in the 4th quarter last night.

This Sixers team is going to be in contention for the East for the foreseeable future. That’s a very good, very young roster.
