BGC 2018 DRAFT QB THREAD

The pop gun arm scares me unless Josh and co think they can approve it with mechanics.

It's really not that bad. Strength and mechanics can be improved, particularly in the few years he would have before playing. He also wouldn't see the field much in an ideal world until the end of his rookie contract. That's sufficient time to improve areas of deficiency.

Would you take him in the second or Rudolph?

Neither, but I'm greedy for defense.

I'm probably not the best evaluator for this question. I'm not 100% sold on any of the quarterbacks, although many of them have some good traits. It's too hard to tell the difference between some of the players without knowing them personally and seeing their work ethic and ability to process information and improve.

I like that Rosen is saying he wants more championships than Brady.
It shows me he would compete with him is confident and ****y.
Not be starstruck when hes in the lockerroom.
Reminds me of Rodgers and Cutler.
I cant tell besides Rosen Allen and Mayfield who would be worth coughing up multiple picks for.

Personality-wise, Rosen definitely gives me the Rodgers vibe in both the good and bad ways.

yep fwiw . Mike Freeman

The sources also believe the Patriots are the team most interested in Jackson.

Which, of course, means "this is a complete guess," because there's no way the Pats are going to tip their hand.

Remember, the Pats were seen conspicuously taking Tim Tebow to dinner in 2010.

And we brought him to camp for a while. He survived until cut down day. McDaniels also drafted Tebow and is back on staff. That's maybe not the best comparison to use.

Idk I just think it makes sense. Maybe not at first look to most fans but you have to project, read between the lines & look ahead.

Josh is coaching this team after Bill, we're 99.99999% sure of that. He's gona want someone to work with & mold.

Who better than Jackson who is familiar with our system, young enough to sit & easily one of the 5-10 most talented players in the draft. This would be a classic Pats move.

Problem is San Diego & Arizona like him too & are ahead of us.

Price tag for LJ shouldn't be a problem if they really like him as future. #9 of SF should probably do the trick and Pats have all the advantages to go there even over MIA. Of course if NYG and DEN both go QB the price tags for the rest might get ridiculous..

On that crazy note . here's a hypothetical GM Q: lets say 4 QBs go top 6 (CLE, NYG, NYJ, BUF) . CLE takes Barkley, DEN Nelson, IND down to BUF 12 . Tampa go Minkah, CHI wants to trade down:

Do you prefer -- B.Chubb + Lauletta/White etc. or LJ + whatever Day 2 DE you like?

Tough question. I think Chubb is really technically sound. He would start right away and be our best edge presence since McGinest (yes, I think he's a more well rounded player than Chandler Jones). LJ, if he hits his ceiling, would be scintillating here. I'd probably prefer Jackson and Lewis to Chubb and White, when you phrase it like that.

I would take White/Chubb without hesitation.

I have White graded higher than Jackson because of: maturity, polish, better accuracy.

The White/Jackson comparison is very interesting because it illustrates how you can play the same system with different styles to win a football game.

Jeff Brohm continued running the system Bobby Petrino installed when he coached WKU for a year.

And in 2016, White was just as dynamic/magnificent as Jackson was during his years at Louisville.

It was just displayed differently.

I hear what ur saying & have np w/ the answer.

The bolded however, strongly disagree.

I like White a lot though. As of now there aren't many in front of him on my QB board.

Yea we need the SF pick or the Oak, Wash/GB area.

I would take LJ. We would still have 2 very high picks to move or stay.

I love different opinions.

I also love watching Lamar Jackson play and would have no problem if we drafted him.

However, Mike White is being underestimated not because of style of play, but what he accomplished at WKU.

He was sensational in pretty much the same offense, and was destroying teams leading WKU to finish the season ranked #23 in the polls.

Watching him play in the CUSA championship game and the Boca Raton Bowl was amazing.

Lol I was just about to edit my post & say I'm glad we disagree. Idk if we disagree that much tho.

My biggest reasons for liking White are

1)Upside, he's never had the stability it takes to mold a young QB but he still succeed we he went to an extent.

2)Arm talent is legit. He has strength, touch & placement. Can tempo his throws to change the speed. Legit arm.

3)Accuracy & deep accuracy at times have been great.

4)He recognized he didn't & wasn't putting in the work early & corrected it by all accounts.

5)Has to be mentally tough to deal w/ what hes dealt w/ & come back from.

Jackson imho is just on another planet. As of now & I don't see any other jumping in front of him, I got White in my Top 5 graded QB'S.

I enjoy reading your articles because of the way you articulate and give in-depth analysis on the prospects: This is one time when I had a VERY minor disagreement with you......We need some beer toasting emoticons on the message board!!!
