2018 Draft Prospect Thread

I mean there are 1-2 Corners I like a little more, but I really do like him. He reminds me of Chris Harris Jr.

I like his back peddle, and his ability to flip his hips. He's always trying to make a play in the run game, although he does need some refinement there. Can basically play all types of coverage. Is scrappy. I remember this play watching him against auburn, where the WR he was covering (not to mention a much bigger WR) where the wr kind of cheap shotted him on a run play, and the very next play, Hughes just buried him right at the line of scrimmage once he noticed they were running the ball. Oh and I like what I see out of him when he blitzes from the slot. Which is where I think hell play, but not at all limited to. Lets not forget his return skills. I just think he offeres a lot of value if we can get him there.

To answer your question about Gilmore. No. We have him locked up for a lot longer, and I think Gilmore he will only get better in the system, and once Bill best hones in how to use him.

Will look into Hughes in more Depth now, i think his draft stock will change so many times even up to the day of the draft, because CB seems to be a fairly strong area in this draft.

Just for my own info, who do you personally feel is the best CB in this years draft?

Can I get officially excited about Anthony Miller now? Watching his highlights, I thought he was a dead ringer for Cooks albeit without the electric speed.

Been A fan for a long tine now. Faster Landry I comp a while back.

Been in the Hughes bandwagon forever now.

I have him as a 1st rounder. Top 3CB rn for me

Okay was just wondering. Personally Denzel Ward is Chris Harris Jr 2.0

Yea I see it. I think Alexander is a good comp for Harris too.

For my top CBs, any of whom could go 1st, I have the following:

Top 15:
Ward (best corner; fast, explosive, good tech, extremely physical despite smaller size)
Alexander (patient, twitchy, doesn't allow completions; if not for Ward, would go top 10)

Top 40:
Davis (suffocating in press man)
Hughes (perhaps the most diverse; smooth)
Oliver (nice tech, insanely long arms, good upside)
Jackson (gambler; not sold on technique, but incredible nose for the ball)

Depending on scheme, swap around the order of the players. I'd be happy with any of those guys, albeit in slightly different roles.

Also, I think Justin Reid could play corner at a high level. He manned up slot receivers for over 50% of his snaps this season, and displayed excellent technique and hips in man coverage. Purely as a corner, I would take him over any of the other players I listed except Ward/Alexander, the two elite corners in this class. I think he's the perfect Patriots player.

Oliver and Davis are great corners because they know how to win 50-50 balls.

Davis in the sec has played against some really talented receivers and is perfect for our press man defense.

Am I the only one who desperately wants us to draft Harold Landry?

devastating

had him as legit option at DE/DL . they could bring him in later as FA like K.Davis but there's probably enough of the hospital at Foxb as it is..

Just about to post this. Just awful, awful timing.

I mean injury anytime is bad. But before the draft, SR season type ones are just terrible.

I'm a fan of him, along side davenport, just have landry ahead of just because of the competition

Interesting that we've brought Guice in for a visit.. Could we be looking at getting a run game going again this season?

Shaquem Griffin is on the list of draftees invited to the draft. I can see te publicity benefit of that but doesn’t it suggest they think he might go in the first two rounds. Have their been many invites that were still here once round two had finished?

22 players will attend the draft

Yeah, not too many. He has to know that he's a long shot for an early draft slot, though. I expect good spirits and a cheerful attitude while he waits for his chance. As inspirational as he is, it's still a tough sell for a team to use a high pick for a player who is missing a hand (unless they also draft the kid from Alabama -- bad joke, sorry). I'd love to see him succeed, and I'll be cheering for him wherever he goes.

I can see why Mosqueda left out the jumps because Mack smashed Nwosu in those, but moderately interesting nevertheless.

Mack is a powerful player. His long arm rush is beautifully executed. Nwosu is much more finesse, and lacks the core strength and explosion that Mack displays. I like his potential, and I love that he's got a safety background (13 passes defended, although many of those were at the LoS), but there's a reason Mack was a top pick, Uchenna Nwosu will be lucky to sneak into the end of the second, and most likely won't go until the fourth.

Once I'm at my computer, I'll post their RAS. Should be enlightening.

I wasn’t really comparing the two, I was interested in the similarities. I think Mack’s explosiveness (in the jumps) makes a big difference.

Colorado RB Phillip Lindsay reminds me a bit of Danny Woodhead. Only 5’7” but he runs with attitude - he doesn’t shy away from contact. He’s not a juker, more of a slasher but he did run 4.39 at his pro day. Could do with more bulk

Lindsay's lack of desired size may limit his draft stock somewhat, but his versatility as a running back, pass catcher and special teams contributor should work in his favor. Lindsay plays with unbridled passion that is infectious on the field. Lindsay has the ability to handle inside running duties and blitz protection despite his size. His football character and field demeanor give him a good chance of becoming a solid backup in the league........I don't think his size will keep him from being successful. It will keep him from being drafted on the first two days, but that's it. He's really tough and can do a lot of things for you and he's just a good person with a great work ethic." -- AFC team area scout.
