Did I miss where the Patriots didn't trade for Danny Shelton and Don't have Vincent Valentine coming back?

No because you are one of the level headed posters on here.

Also I guess going by the guy you are quoting I missed the Pats announcing they were moving Cannon from RT to LT.

Clearly spoken like someone who doesn't understand how the cap works.
Allen doesn't free up 5M. He only free's up 4.4M since cutting him would bump the next guy up into the top 51.

Cutting Gostowski would only free up about 2.9M. Again, because it bumps the next guy up into the Top 51..

Look at the TE contracts that were just signed.. Trey Burton got 8M APY. Graham got 10M. Darren Fells got 4M. Only Burton comes close to being the blocker that Dwayne Allen is. And Allen is a better receiver than given credit for.. The Pats used him almost exclusively as a blocker last year, helping both Waddle and Fleming..

I wasn’t advocating cutting anyone. Just stating those are the players that would be the easiest to free up space with.

How many games have we seen Superbowl for instance Brady kills it and a soft ass D letting him down or barely coming thru.
If We don't spend on D I don't know what to say.

What! you don't know what to say?? You live under a Rock dude?? In BB they Trust.:D

Brady must be ****ing pissed right now, gone are his left tackle and favorite 3d down target in crunch time...

Has James White left the building too

Dude. Finding a kicker that is a) as good as Ghost in terms of FG/XP accuracy and b) nails the kickoffs so perfectly is not as easy as lets just draft the best one. The Bucs and Chargers have done exactly that and it has not been pretty for those two teams.

Unless you have researched kickers and found a gem yourself it is definitely not the easiest way to free space up by cutting your kicker.

The easiest way is to restructure Brady and DMac which both will happen anyway.

Because he's a solid #2 TE and a great blocker and locker room guy, and have you seen that TE's are getting in FA so far?

You can draft a much cheaper option

I don’t disagree on Ghost and I have no idea which kicker to draft. I just know we did the same thing with Vinateiri when we drafted Ghost. If we felt we needed space it wouldn’t be completely shocking.

But at this point based on the room we do have and the players we have let go. We probably won’t need to free up any room. If we are creative with contracts we can add 3-5 solid player with the existing room we have if we look for value deals.

Per Miguel, $6.5M cap space created by releasing Allen, Richards, Gillislee.

Additional $1M if Dorsett is released or traded.

Likely might happen again. I would like to add another defensive piece. I know already that they likely will take a tackle at 31 or maybe 43. One of those picks.
I could be wrong, as I have never been in the war room, but Bill doesn’t seem like the type of guy to draft a player just because it is a need. If we draft an OT in Rd. 1, I’m okay with it, because that means it was a player the team wanted. The fact that it is a need only changes the importance of where you might grab a guy. But if Bill doesn’t have a first rd grade on a guy, he isn’t going to overspend and draft him in the first.

Cutting players isn't the easiest way to free up space because you are creating a void that has to be filled one way or another. That must be taken into consideration. And that includes looking at what is available in the draft.

I will be honest, I have no clue what is available in terms of kickers. But College kicking excellence doesn't transfer to Pro Excellence always..

Allen-How much do we spend to replace him? What suggestions do we have? Sure, he didn’t kill it in the passing game, but he’s a helluva blocker and this line is already going to have its share of growing pains as it is. I’d rather re-work his deal.

Richards-Don’t care what the do with him, I just don’t want to see him on the field with the D ever again.

Gillislee- Again, how much is it going to cost to replace him, and who do we replace him with? We are already needing to replace two contributors from last year.

Dorsett-How much is it going to cost to fill his spot? He has 1 year in the system and he is cheap, gonna be hard to replace that for an amount that equals savings.

If you want to cut these guys because you think they are ****, that’s a different conversation. But, if we are talking just to save cap money, it just doesn’t make much sense to me.
