I'm finding the lack of a Brady extension at this point to be intriguing. I figured that would be a slam dunk to create cap space.

By this point, they have to be running out of salary they can turn into bonus. I feel like they've done that restructure so many times now that his contract has to be mostly guaranteed. Gonna look up the numbers.

To follow up on my own reply, Brady has 14m in base salary both this and next season. An extension does seem like a no brainer.

Cameron Meredith was tendered original round as a UDFA. Can play outside and the slot. Possible target for the annual RFA tender.

I would be very much in favor of this.

When were the Colts the last time truly a rival though ? We have been their bully for what feels forever now so cant even get upset..
Yes I can I love Lewis.
They will overpay to stick it to us

Ahh, yes! I, too, pine for those heady days back when the Pats had $60M in cap space to play with .... instead of, like, 12.
Id rather have a good team under contract than cap space.

Dolphins transformation of overachieving C- roster to tanking candidate continues.

Tamba Hali is on the way out.

No reason to rush things. There is no deadline in terms of bonus or whatever coming up. The team is also not tight on cap.

As @Miguel says.. deadlines spur action..

Exactly. No deadline on a Brady restructure; can happen any time. Same with McCourty, etc.

OTOH, the Pats aren't exactly rolling in oodles of cap space. They need to have between $2.5-$3.0M to cover draftees/UDFAs. They also need to save probably about $6M for the regular season - for emergencies and to cover NLTBE incentives.

Subtracting that from Miguel's current $21.2M number, you get $12.5-$13.0M in usable cap space. Now, they could spend all of the $21.2M right now, as long as they still have ways to free up another $8.5M-$9M in cap space later.

Those could also be already agreed and signed but just not filed yet to not give away any hand in terms of FA negotiations..
