Browns trade Shelton to Patriots

Shelton is a good player...clogs the middle he is very strong against the run. but we still have a long way to go. Shelton is slow and big...

We need more speed on this defense than ever before....Speed....and pass rush...

Shelton has neither of those things

I hope we find a fast pass rusher this offseason

If you're basing him being bad on his stats, let me offer you a preemptive LOL.
Im not. I have a colleague in my team that is a Browns fan (go figure). I've seen him rant about this guy in more than one occasion. For all i know, this guy sucks lol

pats give up 2019 3rd rounder. I don't think we necessarily "fleeced" them...

If during the draft for the first pick in the 5th round someone traded a 4 next year no one would bat an eye. Instead we traded what will probably be one of the last couple of picks in the 3rd. Essentially we got the player for the equivalent of trading down a round or less.

So you are judging the player based upon admittedly knowing nothing but some guy who is a fan of a team that is 1-31 the last 2 years didn’t like him?

Remember, dreadlock CB tandems (Gilmore, Darby) are always better than dreadlock Safety tandems (Meriweather, Serigio Brown) ;)
That’s for damn sure!

We just might have fixed the single biggest issue that prevented us from winning the SB but the trade sucks because your friend ranted about him a few times. Ok then..

It will be a really tough decision whether or not to pick up his option though.

Does anyone know what the cap number would likely be in the 5th year?

Yes. For one, i respect the knowledge of this guy a great deal. Secondly, he is an avid Browns fan, for quite some time.

That how the time value of picks is usually calculated - a round lower for each year out. So this is like trading a late 4 this year for the first pick in the 5th plus Shelton. Pretty nice deal.

What’s he done in the NFL so far? Serious question, I haven’t really followed.

I’m optimistic, but cautious, last time we took a former 1st rounder from them it was Mingo. Who did nothing.

Sometimes you just can’t polish a turd, so we’ll see.

6'2"/343

44 starts in three seasons with 128 tackles ... run-stopper

And he doesn't even turn 25 until Camp.

BINGO!

Big strong DT's do more then stop the run, they also push the pocket back into the opposing QB's face. Pass rush begins inside, first it requires big guys who draw double teams so speed rushers get one on one matchups with tackles. TEAM game. Shelton is a load.

There are still some people around who claim we gave up a second round pick for Ealy. Draft value shouldnt be difficult to understand but apparently it is for some..
