Auden Tate - PATRIOT-TYPE PLAYER - FSU - 6'4+/225 - JR


BACKGROUND

• Born FEB 3, 1997
• From Irmo, S.C.
• Went to Wharton High School in Florida. Played football, was injuried most of senior season. Was an all-county selection in basketball.
• Four-star wide receiver who committed to Florida State in August of 2014 & was rated the nation’s No. 22 wide receiver.
• Father played football and track

STRENGTHS

• Huge 6'4+/225 frame. H/W is proto-type. Long, lean athlete. Long arms & strong hands.
• Wins at L.O.S. w/ stutter steps, jab step & hesitation. Long legs create natural separation. Also uses subtle hand usage throughout the play, from l.o.s. to right before a catch.
• ++ Back Shoulder/Out routes, Slants, Go, Comebacks and Cross Hash
• ++Natural, Strong hands that pluck the ball out of air with authority.
• ++ Body control, Hand/Eye coordination & Tracking ability. Uncanny ability to contort his body & stretch out arms for the ball. Tracks the ball like a centerfielder & will make over the shoulder catches look easy. Blocks out defenders like a power foward.
• 50/50, Red Zone monster. 3rd highest 50/50 catch rate this year at 65%.
• Very good, savy blocker. In both run game & passing game (downfield) Will extend, lock out arms & drive DB's back. Uses body to shield. Mindful not to do too much & get a flag.
• Tough player who catches through contact & not afraid to take a big hit. Not easy to take down & will fight for yards.

AUDEN TATE - TRAITS THAT TRANSLATE

There are two wr’s in this draft that I think would make great patriot receivers.

First is Ridley of Alabama. No college CB can cover him. He would have 2,000 yards if he was not stuck with a rb for a qb.

Second is Sutton, he has it all.

Unfortunately both will be off the board by #32.

I'm not so sure about that OJ?

I'm fans of both but wouldn't be surprised if teams said no soup for WR'S on draft night.

Quinn has a better market share than Sutton who has the "clap" technique when it comes to catching. Leads to double/bobbled catches. High cut, unproportioned athlete.

Ridley is obviously being held back by his situation in general but why draft him when I can draft Miller, Gallup, James etc in later rounds.

Tate is the guy I think has the most upside.

Michael Gallup is very close to being a P-TP but sux at blocking rn. Hes a guy that will fall and can do a little bit of everything.

MICHAEL GALLUP - COLORADO ST - 6'1/200 - WR


BACKGROUND

• Born March 4, 1996
• Hometown is Monroe, Ga. Went to Monroe High School where he earned 16 letters & excelled at football, baseball, basketball and track & field (4X4, 4X1)
• Mother is Jenny Gallup. Was adopted and grew up in multicultural household
• Went to Butler County Community College before transferring to Colorado State because of grades
• Majoring in liberal arts.
• Has improved each year & maintains its due tomorrow work ethic. Including watching film & training.

Strengths

• Sufficient H/W 6'1/200 that could stand to add 7-10 lbs. Looks to have above average arms & hands.
• +Strong Hands that look to be bigger than average. Tries to pluck the ball out of the air.
• Uses quick twitchy steps, jump/hop cuts, hesitation to get off L.O.S. but is also very physical at L.O.S. & in route. Subtly & not so subtly, will use hands, arms, elbows & hips to create separation. Powerful, long strider.
• Can work all 3 areas of the field (short/inter/deep). Screens, MOF, sidelines & deep. + Tracking ability
• Physical, + Y.A.C./missed tackles. Doesn't go down easy. Almost turns into RB.
• +Body Control, + Catch through contact & + ability to win 50/50 ball.
• Knows how to deal with different types of people/environment bc of background (above)
• Play improved each year w/ noticeale difference

Said it before and I'll say it again, Trey Quinn is the most Patrioty WR in this draft class, and not just because of the lazy "6ft ish white guy wr"comparison to Jules and Amendola that will inevitably be made Arguably the best hands in the draft, can run all the routes, more speed and explosiveness than either Danny or Jules, fearless, elusive, high effort, selfless and high character. Love him.

Yea he's a little force out there. WR is loaded w/ smaller, quicker guys that can win inside & outside at times. Not "top heavy" but it's a very, very deep position this year.

It's a difficult one, because we have a number of more pressing needs and limited picks. Most projections I've seen have him going between rounds 3-5. I'd be happy with him in 3rd because I think he's a perfect fit for us and as risk free as any draft selection can ever be. I'd be delighted with him as a fourth round pick, and if he's still there in the fifth and we have traded into the fifth, I'd be heartbroken if we didn't take him.

If we don’t want to use an early pick on WR what about a guy like equanemious st. Brown in the late rounds? He’s a guy that needs a year in the weight room but with his size and speed he definitely has traits that translate. Had a down year in large part because the offense was bad. That’s good for us since we could get him at a discount

I've routinely seen him projected to go in the 2nd - 4th. I don't think he will make it to the late rounds. He's intriguing though with his downfield speed and jump ball ability. Similar to Golladay, whom I vastly underrated last year (mea culpa to whomever asked me about his draft status; I thought he was a mediocre mid round pick, but he was very solid).

Would Dante Pettis offer enough at WR and/or ST to warrant his selection as a punt return specialist?

He had 90 PR over four seasons at Washington with no season less than 16. Averaged 14.2 yds/punts with 9 PR TDs. Had no KRs at all.

Sat out the Combine and his pro day with an ankle injury. He said he wants to be certain that it's fully healed by the start of OTAs.

Good question. I like where you're coming from. I go back and forth on Pettis. He was an elite PR, but I kept waiting for him to show the same skills as a receiver. I don't think he's very refined as a route runner, and he's got a wonky body type for a slot guy. I wouldn't take him with our first 5 picks, although I'd be very interested if he fell to our 6th rounder. I would suspect he goes in between then, however.

It's funny the size of this year' class is crazy & not getting talked about about. Not #1 guys but Cobbs, Tate, Ateman etc all had great 50/50 rates.


Brown has the genes that's for sure. Entire fam is super athletic. Father was a Mr universe, body builder type. Bro will be getting noticed next year.


I've actually been hearing his name grow closer to the 1st rd. I'd like to see more aggression on jump balls but he has the ability for sure. Really intriguing. I think he could be a great target on comebacks & crossers.


I think Adams goes a lot earlier then some believe too.
