Edelman

My point is that the offense adjusts. It was the best in the NFL without Edelman. It will be the best with Edelman.

I agree.

However, Edelman provides a level of success on intermediate range passes that Hogan, Mitchell, Cooks, Dorsett, Britt - and even Amendola - simply can't, or haven't so far, at least. And, really, only Amendola has come close.

The dimension of the passing attack was significantly lacking in 2017, and that perhaps prevented the best offense in the NFL from being able to overcome their own vulnerable defense.

Saw this comment before I watched the video. Knew it would be an old guy complaining about rap.
I saw you commenting on my comment before you watched the video. And before you diss someone else as "old," understand that in this century it's called hip-hop, not "rap."

Tomato tomato. You read that two different ways, didn’t you?

HERE is the correct soundtrack for Julian's video:

feel like a hip..hop rabbit...?

Brady just won NFL MVP and threw for 500 yards in the SuperBowl............ without Edelman.

Just saying. I'd love to have him back but I'm ok if we ease him into it. There's no rush.

This is where it’s at!

Eek. Nothing worse than metal versions of classical. Inspired (ala Becker), ok. But rehashing classical pieces? Yuk.

This is the Edelman themes. 'Games' will be played. And he'll tear the league up again, just like these 'cats' do.

Love me some Mike Stern.

Back to offense and Edelman. The posts here talking about pass offense don't include Gronk, do you all know something I don't know or is it WRs only?

That guitar versions off the chain. I like that kind of stuff. Listen to Yngwie Malmsteen play far beyond the sun

If anyone can battle back and have a good first year back from ACL surgery it’s this animal.

I think there's no doubt that the offense is fine without Edelman, as we showed this past year. In fact it seems the offense can usually adapt to any change, so long as they have sufficient time to adjust (effectively losing Gronk right before Super Bowl 46 hurt for example).

But I think part of what makes this offense so good year in and year out (aside from Brady of course) is that they don't rest on their laurels. They took an offense that scored 31 unanswered points in the Super Bowl and traded a first rounder for Cooks. It's not so much that they NEED Edelman, but getting him back helps to keep pushing the offense forward, because you know at least one player on offense is going to get hurt or regress (it happens every year to someone usually).

Julian's return is insurance against that inevitability, and allows us to hopefully relegate more offseason assets to the defense.
