I think our chances next year revolve in large part in how Edelman and Hightower come back - and both are really uncertain at this point. We need the Edelman role filled in our passing game and Hightower is the only guy with experience on our roster to fill his needed role.

OK, I want Edelman back at 100%. We all do.
However, we will have a fine passing offense, with or without Edelman. Perhaps folks think Cooks, Hogan, Amendola, Mitchell and Dorsett will get worse this year, after a year of camp and pre-season.

We missed that quick-hitting, getting open in tight areas aspect that Edelman brings - and Welker before him. A real comfort on 3rd down. Saves hits on Brady too. Amendola a year older, Mitchell may or may not be right. Dorsett may or may not click. We compensated for the loss of Edelman well, but we still missed his skill set. And not all defenses will be as inept as the Eagles.

Our offense was strong however bormio is correct:

Nice supposition there mg ... how about letting members speak for themselves without you inferring here.
Edelman is tops for Brady ... which slots everyone else down where they belong ... which makes the team better.

??

Everyone is free to agree or disagree with my analysis that the passing offense is top with Edelman and without Edelman.

And, of course, it is better with Edelman.

Anyone still feeling as though he could’ve suited up for the SB?

Saw this comment before I watched the video. Knew it would be an old guy complaining about rap.
Yeah, Sade would have been better given the context of the clip, you know like Smooth Operator. It's a laid back moment. You young farts have no concept. It's all bend your knees with your baggy pants, jump around and wave your arms while yelling, hey, ho. Calm down, Edelman's working.

The offense changes dramatically with Edelman in the lineup. It is not farfetched to say that the offense flows through Edelman (remember how the offense went downhill after we lost him in '15).

There is just nobody that creates instant separation at the line like him, nobody that has a nose for where open space will develop, like he does.

And there's just nobody on the team that has his mental toughness and maniacal willingness to run horizontal routes without the fear of being clobbered. All of these just opens up the offense for the other players.

My point is that the offense adjusts. It was the best in the NFL without Edelman. It will be the best with Edelman.
