Here's what it comes down to here folks. You either trust Belichick or you don't. That's the only decision to be made right now.
If you trust Belichick, then the decision of whether or not to run damaged goods onto the field in a #21 jersey doesn't matter because damaged goods in a #21 jersey does not change the fact that Nicke Foles was locked in like a laser beam.
If you don't, you play the woulda coulda shoulda game, a guy whose play had slipped BADLY in the last 3-4 games suddenly becomes Superman and does Butlerceptions every single defensive down, and we win in a walk.
That's the whole conversation. Ultimately since BB didn't choose to share his actual reasoning that's what we're down to. We're left believing one of two things
1: Bill not telling us the reason clearly means Butler was benched for no reason
2: Bill not telling us the reason clearly does not mean Butler was benched for no reason.
Ultimately, you are paying your money and making your choice on this one, and I know which seems the least ******ed to me.
What the reason may or may not have been ultimately doesn't matter because that information was not shared with us. That's your twofold choice. Believe, or disbelieve, it's up to you.
Just a reminder -- this is a guy who was undrafted and working at Popeyes -- because his bad attitude and lack of respect for the coaches got him thrown out of college ball. Worth remembering. Is it more likely that he was persecuted by Bill, or that the disappointment over the contract issue caused him to backslide once he started short-timing in New England, and Bill didn't trust him to focus?
