Did the D give up 41 points in SB 39?

No, but the D gave up 29 in SB 38 to Jake Delhomme in a far easier era to play defense.

Look at SF's vaunted D vs Flacco in 2012. What did they give up to an on fire Flacco?

Did they also have a TD go against them, that wasn't a TD?

Hmm.

How many times in Patriots history has a player who played bar none the most snaps on his side of the ball all season up to that point gotten told they would not be playing at all while healthy in the Super Bowl?

You work your body to the bone all year, you play more on defense than anybody else, now it's the big game and the coach takes you out of it? Yeah anybody would be upset over that.

I just gave you the example. SB 39. One of our 4 starting LBs rode the bench on the opening drive. Did he cry? I don't think so.

1. Did he sit out the whole game?
2. Did he take more snaps all year than any other defensive player that year?
3. If so, did he get informed of that decision immediately before the national anthem?

You are making comparisons where you don't have enough information to say they are similar.

Also the defense in 39 didn't give up 41 points and the secondary wasn't getting torched.

Honestly, I would need to go look at who it was and how many snaps the person took. Maybe it was Ted Johnson and speed was needed both to contain McNabb and Westrbook out of the backfield? Just a guess by memory.

Philly's D ALSO was torched, but you don't hear their fans talking about it, do you?

Are you aware Nick Foles was an MVP candidate 3 years ago with only 3 INTs on the year?

It's not my problem that you are a sore loser type and simply can't tip your cap to the winner.

All of these SBs are coin flip Super Bowls. Salary cap era. Parity (bad parity, but still parity, where the two teams in the SB are equally matched).

after you show us an example of anything you've been blathering about for the last 1.5 weeks

I can tell you that playoff benchings have produced a perfectly bad result: Tully Banta-Cain in 2006 AFCC, Welker in 2010 Div, and Butler in 2017 SB.

Care to tell me when a benching has worked?

My goodness are you daft. It's all over the place. Reiss, Giardi, Howe, etc, all printed the same kinds info. Kyed is another one who can be trusted.

How about Butler himself saying "they gave up on me"? Is that not factual enough for you and your obnoxious troll blather? Yes, BB did give up on you, Malcolm like he gave up on Alan Branch, too.

Go to the source. The source is the player having ulterior motives for underperming in BB's eyes. You're not smarter or a better coach than BB.

Hurry! Felger and Mazz are on in 20 minutes.

I'm still waiting for you to come up with anything of value.......your stupid fantasies are getting old

I just gave you Butler's own statement. You acting childish and belligerent is not my problem.

Anyone can do a Google search and collect all the info, corroborate it all and make a conclusion.

Are you a Butler relative?

How is knowing he had the flu and a curfew violation, and blowing up at coaches, "fantasies"?

Seek help.

Giardi on Malcolm Butler: There was definitely a curfew violation

I also watched him cry on my tv screen. These aren't "fantasies", unless of course you are a schizophrenic and think they are.

Source tells me Butler & his camp remain extremely frustrated by Pats position & Gilmore signing. Courting offers elsewhere. Wants new home

Look, I love Malcolm Butler's story as much as the next guy. His competitveness is admirable. But let's not make him out to be a martyr here. Lot to this story. Just because BB isn't giving you the rundown doesn't mean there's nothing there.

If he was benched the entire game for only a curfew violation, Belichick went full ******. If he threatened or assaulted coaches, that’s another thing.

If he was benched an entire game for weed, Belichick went full ******.

If he was benched an entire game for missing a flight, Belichick went full ******.

If he was benched for combination of the above, Belichick went full ******.

If he was benched for a physical altercation with the coaches, Belichick never should have dressed him and made a horrible era covering for him and for having him be a spectacle on the sideline and for not informing Butler and Rowe until the national anthem. And he was spineless for having him dress at all.

Agree with the above, but I think you need to have him dress in the event of an emergency at the position regardless. Either that, or you have to activate someone from the PS.

So why oh why won’t Butler say what he did?

You seem to be irrational tired to poor reading comprehension. Everything you say is geared around trying to blame BB.

If BB had made him Inactive, people like you, Tony Mazz, Felger, ESPN morons, etc, would all be skewering BB for that, but ONLY if we lost. If they had won, no one would say a word just like Philly's supposed vaunted D being absolutely dusted for a SB record.

Your agenda is just sad if you considering yourself a Pats fan.

As stated, that MAY have happened, but Jon Jones blew out an Achilles.

Get it? You can't carry just 3 CBs in a SB in a passing league and promoting some guy who is not ready off the PS, would have you writing letters to Kraft to fire BB.

How are you even a PAas fan? Are you Malcolm Butler? If so, you know what you did to not get any real reps in a SB. lmao

Well, I am assuming you're joking, but his free agency status i why BB is respecting him and that situation.

No way the people Giardi, Kyed, Reiss, Howe, etc, spoke to on the staff, would be taking lies from the coaching staff about Butler.

Butler did all of this to himself, minus the flu part.

Why is it so hard for people accept a combination of things led to BB's decision? If he can't trust him and thinks he's checked out, he's not going to feel good about him out there.

Some of our fans need therapy.

Where are you getting this official definition from? Because football decision typically translates to a decision that is best for the team ON THE FIELD. We now have the results to prove that this wasn't the best decision on the field of play. I've gone over why already.

No, we don't have any such results. We only have suppositions and guesses about how the defense would have performed with Butler in there. For all we know it could have done worse. Not likely, admittedly, but a possibility, especially since we don't know why Butler was benched.

The problem with the rational is that if it was something that serious and he felt like he had no other choice, then why did he..

1. Dress Butler anyways. You're telling me it was so bad he just could not in good conscious play him, but you kept him on the roster for the game anyways? Why?

Several players have said that while they knew for days Butler would have a significantly reduced role, they only found out "just before kickoff" (or words like it) that he wouldn't be playing on defense at all.

Maybe something happened in the 90 minutes between the inactives being submitted and kickoff? Maybe that's when the rumored altercation happened?

What we know is that the defense with butler on the field allowed 14 ppg.

the defense with butler NOT on the field, gave up 44 points.

The team is undefeated in superbowls where butler played defense.

When you are giving up points on every drive, you need to change something. the patriots didn't and they lost. there was zero adjustment. plain and simple thats on the coaches.

Some of them even found out they will be in a starting lineup, but I guess Butler did that to himself as well.
