Ertz - pass
Clement - pass
Ertz - pass
Ertz - pass

Eagles fourth down conversions (2)

Ertz - pass

was he inaccurate a lot and did he drop that easy pass?

did we kinda stink in the red zone? why is it that these plays don’t count in your world?

i also saw 3 dropped ints in the first half, one at the goal line to a covered gronk into triple coverage

Because the red zone plays were 3 straight runs.

No, he was not inaccurate. He lead the team down there 3 times. The ball was taken totally out of his hand in one series. And then poor execution by Cooks was followed by a poor decision by Belichick/Daniels. Also, there was the missed FG.

Brady was responsible for none of that. As it was, he lead them to 3 scores in a half in which Philly dominated TOP. By all rights, if not for screwups, he would have had them score all 5 drives.

robertweathers is showing even more insanity trying to use the Milloy example. They LOST the next game by a huge margin, it's what happens when a key cog doesn't play and everyone else has to adjust. Sound familiar? The entire Patriots defense played horrible without Butler and that shouldn't even be debatable

Benching Malcolm Butler was another stroke of genius from Bill Belichick ... in theory

It is a pretty interesting theory that smells like it might be going into the right direction. The most important sentence in there is this:

In short the author explains on a schematic level that this was almost the inverse gameplan that BB is famous for with the Giants. He wanted to avoid the Eagles gashing them slowly on the ground, grinding the game out leaving Brady on the sideline.

Go and read it if you have time.. it gives an interesting perspective into what might have been the motivation for this weird gameplan.

I would please ask anyone to stay on topic and dont turn this into another Butler thread. This thread is for the discussion of that potential gameplan and not to whine about BB stealing a title from you.

The other thing that gets pointed out again is that while Rowe said that he didnt know about the Butler benching until before the kickoff we know now not only that the captains knew days ahead that Butlers role got minimized:

And this article points out that Rowe even practiced with the first team defense instead of Butler the entire time:

So can we at least stop propagating this the team got shocked before kickoff narrative ?

You do understand there’s a difference between butlers role being reduced and playing 0% of the snaps, right?

Is that what people after the game against the Bills would have said if the FG went in instead ?
No, cecause even if that kick went in the Giants clearly frustrated that Bills defense. It’s not like the Giants gave up 40 plus points and never stopped the Billsfrom doing whatever they wanted to do on offense.

Dude, there were 3 dropped picks and collinsworth was even pointing out how brady was missing, and i cannot stand collinsneck.

Chung also got hurt and had to come out twice for a couple of plays. Did we THEN go to our 2nd CB? Nope. We put some other JAG out there. I was at the game and we honestly thought Butler was sick or injured. Never in a million years did we guess that he had been intentionally benched. Unreal.
Yes, Chung goes down and still, no Butler.

I know. Torry Smith has been a bust for the most part. Putting Gilmore on him just took Gilmore out of the equation. The Eagles went in wanting to target Rowe and Chung and they had their best receivers lined up against them. What makes this painful is the stupidity of it.

Seriously how dumb you gotta be to put Gilmore on there worst WR like what is that.

Nobody in their right mind would

How is pointing out all 3 phases, including brady, could have been better something that is comsidered crazy? We had chances to steal momentum in the first half vis the offense, and failed. Not a big deal to observe that unless you are a homer.

The coaching also could have been better.

Do you guys trade brady footie pajamas in the mail or just wear brady bras on your heads instead? My goodness. Brady was very poor last year in the first half and mediocre this year. Nothing more, nothing less.

This is one main reason pats haters hate us. The unwillingness to admit brady is human. Or, any other star player on offense like gronk or defending poor postseason play from someone like a mankins or welker.

Uh, Brady missed on multiple throws so as to not take an int. The Pats, scored on something like 4 drives in a row of something like 90, 75, 75, 75 yards and a minimal running attack. I’d say he was accurate enough.

The Eagles were quite familiar with how to attack Eric Rowe since he played for them.

If Brady threw a couple of picks and about 250 yards we would all agree he was mediocre. He threw for 505. In a Super Bowl. One first drive studded inside the 10 and they came away with nothing. Another at the 35 and also nothing. They never punted once in the first half and had no turnovers. In what football universe is that mediocre. Based on where Brady put the team in the first half they should have had 19 or more points (they should have gone for it inside the 10 with under a yard for a first and kicked it from the 35 on 4th and 5). Brady put them in position to score 19 first half points. How is that mediocre.

Yeah, that all
you thinking butler would have made
some magical difference, which is bizarre considering his up and down play all year and his antics leading into the super bowl with the coaches unable to trust him.

i would have preferred seeing bademosi get
more responisibility on smith, and that would have freed up mccourty in run support and maybe even some sneaky blitzes...

when chung got hurt, slide bademosi on ertz
and mccourty back over to torrey smith, who
i am assuming was the guy who removed him from the game.

serious question since i have not rewatched the game and you were there: mccourty was handling torrey smith prior to chung’s conccussion, correct?

jeffery was cooked if bb just told harmon to help rowe over the top and gilmore would have done welll on agoholor
Yeah that all worked so well. You’re right, Butler staying on the bench was magical.

Nope.

Eric lee started. Is this surprising? Yep. Was it “shocking” distracting the team? Nope.

What drama queens. Butler knows what he did and it was selfish.
What exactly did Butler do that was selfish? What does Eric Lee starting have to with anything??

Dude, there were 3 dropped picks and collinsworth was even pointing out how brady was missing, and i cannot stand collinsneck.

The 3rd and goal to Gronk was not a dropped pick. The ball was thrown behind Gronk but coming in too fast for the defender to realistically get both hands on it. Philly had a better chance of picking that one off the richochet.

Tom Brady
Of course it is not logical. Our d gave up 13 points in sb 46 until the last 2 mins while brady and the offense fiddled around for the 2nd half to even be able to get into fg range for a fg attempt.

Our fans will do anything to place blame at the feet of just bb. Tony mazz and felger have done a number on some of our fans.
has has played in 8 Superbowls and in all 8 has either led the team on a late 4th quarter drive to win the game or give them the lead late in the fourth quarter. In three of those games the defense could then make a stop and they lose, but in all 8 Brady led the team down the field to score late in the fourth quarter. 8 for 8 in giving you team a great chance to win at the end of the Super Bowl is insane and we will never see that again in our lifetimes.
