Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

You have no proof he didn't.

We do know the coaching staff was frustrated by his reluctance to modify his technique back to 2015/2016 form.

You're now doubling down on stupid.

The only reason that makes any sense is Malcolm was not ready to play the game and Bill didn't trust him out there. In conclusion Malcolm did "things" to make Bill loose confidence and trust in Malcolm out on the field.

Thats it.

You’re missing a big point and that is Bill cannot come to this conclusion suddenly just moments before the biggest game of the year.

So TB12 supports Butler, what do the BB KoolAid crowd say about that? IS Brady a malcontent to?

The only thing that is going to make this Super Bowl so hard to get over is understanding WTF Belichick was doing keeping Butler benched the entire game and playing JAGS like Richards and Bademosi

In a game where the Philly offense led by Nick Foles completely embarassed and shredded our secondary, I find it hard to stomach that they wouldn't get Butler in there on a few plays

Richards has never been able to cover well, he only belongs on the field in the event of a CATASTROPHE... and they played him over Butler in the ****ING SUPERBOWL!!!!!

AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

I have no doubt we keep philly under 30 with butler in the game. Butler could give up some plays but he can make a play the next series.

Malcolm is refuting the Media not the Patriots. Players are standing behind a teammate again who is correcting the media.

Let's not overblow this into some sort of player v management issue.

That said I still am clueless as to why the hell he was benched Sunday.

The truth will be somewhere in the middle.

At this point I honestly don't care anymore.

If the truth is closer to Butler's version than BB should not have sat him for the entire game especially once it became clear that we could not stop anything on third down even in the second half.

If the truth is closer to what the media is telling us then **** Butler for being an ******* in his final week with the team and forcing BB's hand by breaking multiple no tolerance rules.

Whatever, the game is lost and over with. And with that this entire thing is done for me until more details are leaked that give a fuller picture.

I wouldn’t want anyone besides him coaching my team, but god damn was that a horrible decision.

The most reasonable position if you ask me...the "fIRe BiL BelLECheck" crowd has lost their minds, but that also doesn't exempt BB from criticism. When you lose a game the way we lost SB52, even the smallest decisions will come under scrutiny, and sitting Butler was a big decision.

Oh well...I don't know what we can really do about it. It sucks.

I don’t think he should resign or be fired. He can be very vindictive and cold hearted though.

I thought from the beginning it was obvious that Bill was doing this on purpose to Butler by trotting him out for one shot on special teams. Taste the field and then snatch him back and have him sit and watch someone else in his spot on defense. Fine if we're winning, but our defense was getting shredded and Bill was too prideful to change his mind and allow Butler back in, regardless of whether it cost us the game.

Kraft needs to hold him accountable. Decision by committee now, hire GM.

I mean you didn't defend BB and his choice, you just restated the BB made a choice.

I'm defending his choice if BB didn't think Malcolm could help the team.

If me predicting that you would do something is condescending, then I apologize for being right?

Your tone was unappreciated.

Had they been that frustrated, they would’ve traded Malcolm to New Orleans in the offseason.

Again, your theories are not making sense.
This was latter part of the season where the frustration boiled over.

Well then Bill was being a stubborn idiot (in the moment), if he had less faith in Butler than Rowe and Bademosi.

The only way Belichick could be semi-vindicated is if Butler did something egregious off the field and it doesn't seem like he did.
...or he was not to be trusted to do what was required on the field.

I'm sorry our, stubborn and arrogant Coach cost the players, fans and you Malcolm from a Lomdardi, due simply to his ego, this is an outrage...

more productive to let it singe and fester into a cauldron furnace of fire and fan fury simply because life is mostly boring and sucky... and since we do not have the after glow of a SB win where we read multiple glowing Patriot worship articles we need to read about this mother being burned to the ground of for no other reason than there is quite simply nothing to do anymore... So...

Misleading thread title.....

The statement says “During Super Bowl week I never attended any concert, missed curfew, or participated in any of the ridiculous activities being reported. They are not only false, but hurtful, to me and my family.”

He never specifically mentions drugs (and he should have, since that’s probably one of the more egregious rumors out there). He went with the more non-specific ”any of the ridiculous activities being reported”

Not a big distinction, but the lawyer in me finds it a curious omission.

P.s. I’m not really a lawyer
I would classify drug use under "ridiculous activities".

Maybe he really thought that it was the best way to win, unless you don’t trust his and Patricia’s words.

Thats obviously where I am with this. Malcolm was doing something football related that caused Bill to drop him like a bad habit.
