A coach is not going to public explain the derogatory factors about a player that caused him to bench him. It’s just not done.

We'll never know the facts. Well Butler will probably speak about it when he leaves. What we do know is we needed Malcolm on the field. He was suited up and Belichick decided instead of just making him inactive he'd do it shortly before kickoff, confusing and distracting the team.

It was not in the best interest of the team winning that Super Bowl. He deserves to be questioned and criticized for it.

Exactly. BB created all this drama. People who don't think this effected the psyche and play of the defense are insane. It was a really stupid move to handle it the way he did. It was so obvious by the way they played.

Don't know if someone already posted this theory but I hope this wasn't BB sticking it to Kraft and Brady for forcing him to trade Jimmy (if reports were true). Brady really wanted #6 but with no defense went down in a loss fighting valiantly. Kraft of course wanted #6 for his trophy case and legacy. Bellichick might have a beef with Butler as a cover for benching him and that also could hurt Butlers payday with another team.

Who knows, maybe with NFL ratings in free fall, Roger asked Kraft to take one for the league. Fans are leaving in droves and even more would if Brady hoisted another trophy. Just speculation.

I think BB is the heart and soul of this team but this makes me pause and wonder if he has turned on the team. Fans deserve a real explanation.

I see this two ways: First, I find it hard to believe that there wasn't *something* valid that caused Belichick to make this decision. It's extremely difficult to believe he would make an unnecessary decision that *he* thought might put the team in an inferior position to win.

With that said, I think it was the wrong decision in that regard, and you really had nothing to lose by getting Butler in there. If he gets beat, there's no difference anyway.

What about philly’s d, the fake td by clement and awful gostkowski yet again? Sometimes games are shoootouts. This was one of them and our offense was as asleep out of the blocks in a super bowl again.

Why is it ok for brady and mcdaniels to be confused for an entire first half against a crap pass d?

I tend to agree on the slow start being a problem despite the defense losing us the game, but Brady wasn’t confused that I saw. That said, Josh made 1-2 run play calls that diminished opportunity for Tom and then the Cooks inability to break a tackle. So I agree Josh made mistakes early.

1 of 11 ... last I checked Butler doesn't rush the QB - Foles was comfortable - Butler or no Butler.

He's the defense's biggest playmaker. This year he had 3 FF (including a strip sack and clutch touchback on Sefarian-Jenkins), 2 INT and 12 passes defensed (led all DBs).

This was not some week 6 game, this was the Super Bowl - it impacted every player on the roster immensely - their whole professional goal is to win a Super Bowl. If it was a discipline issue, and honestly it has to be, then Belichick needs to have the players at least comprehend if not support the decision. He should have sought the opinions and input from the captains. Do not know if that happened - sounds like did not. If they were fighting about it in the locker room, that is on Bill.

This is all just crazy with how delusional some of you are. Rowe got absolutely picked on. That's fact, not debate. No Butler meant shifting around the normal roles in the secondary, more snaps from 3rd and 4th stringers, who got exposed as 3rd and 4th stringers... It's a domino.

That was the worst defensive performance of BB playoff career. Worst. And were going to pretend that benching the starting corner couldn't have possibly had anything to do with that? Keep drinking the koolaid...

Tbh, Brady deserves better. If not for his late game heroics, how many rings does Bill have?
