Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

And he might not have the same excellence without BB. He might be just another Rivers or Brees without a coach that creates an environment that brings the best out of him. This entire argument is circular and pointless. They make each other greater..

Brady wins everywhere.

Note: Rivers is not even in the same league as Brees, Rodgers, Manning and Brady. Those are the big 4 by a mile. Please don't put him in there

He had a bad year. The possibility that that, coupled with his having to stay behind an extra day in Boston in the hospital and possibly bad performances in practice led to it. The point is we don't know, and the idea that Belichick just suddenly lost his mind or (my personal favorite) just had to prove how arrogant he is is beyond stupid.

How could he POSSIBLY be worse than Richards?

it's the kind of explanation that is given when you know the truth will be hard to stomach given the manner of the outcome
Absolutely.

The real reason could be very painful. To Malcolm. To BB. To fans, etc.

Who are you going to trust? Rowe or McCourty? It was McCourty who told Mike Giardi and Phil Perry that Butler wasn't a part of the game plan. Check post #231 in this thread.

What could Rowe possibly gain by making all this up? He appeared to be genuinely surprised by what had transpired last night.

I'm sure Malcolm did practice. I have no doubt of that.

The question is did he practice and prepare at the level of satisfaction to BB, MP, etc.

there would be some kind of consensus around the situation if it was an ability thing

agholor abused us ......... to not even give him a shot for a series or a drive suggest something other than ability

I am not saying Rivers is anywhere close to Brady as it is. My point is that a lot of success in this sport has to do with being at the right place so your talents are maximized. Do you have any trust into a coach like Wisenhunt or Tomlin to use Brady similarly effective as BB does ? I dont.

What could DMac or any of the other captains gain by making their version of the entire situation up (i.e. they were informed before) ? The whole thing remains a mystery..

That's super disrespectful to Rivers. He's a hell of a QB, especially when you consider how inept the management of the team he plays for has been for the last... forever.

How many reasons could possibly exist to bench a healthy Butler in the superbowl? its either that or they suddenly discover that Eric Row was the better corner in pre-game warmups leading to the game. Of course the eagles were thrilled knowing full well that Rowe was garbage since he used to be on their team in Philly.

fixed it for you. Makes ZERO sense for Rowe to make up the story of not knowing he was to start.

Apparently david tyree didn’t practice well in SB42...you just have to play your best players.

uhhhh......2 years at big money.....like I said, mccourtys motivations exceed rowe's

Agree. Malcolm has the ability. There is no doubt of that.

Much like Obi Wan Kenobi, I suppose they have a different point of view on the issue than Rowe.

I have not read through such a ridiculously long thread but if the flu thing and his clearing out his locker before flying in late is true, that sort of confirms the rumor that he simply did not shake the whole contract thingy in the offseason, where he rejected a very generous 8 mil per yesr offer. It is similar to welker, really. Bb does not mess around with primadonnas or selfishness. Lots of talk early in the year of butler finger pointing and bad body language being tied to early season struggles. I sort of felt like the bademosi move was done for insurance on the inevitible butler departure.

so based on that, it would have made sense for him to be inactive if he was deemed to not have the ability that earns him zero snaps

BB was the goat last night. Who would have thunked it. They played a very vanilla scheme.

I agree.

I'm just trying to sort through this and come up with something rational that I can live with. :p

Tough to compare the situations. Tyree was a WR5. Malcolm played 98% of the snaps.
