This entire board right now sounds like it's originating from an insane asylum. The Eagles were better tonight. They deserved to win. Their offense would have scored at least the same number of points with Malcolm Butler or without him. I hated losing this game. Why can't some people just admit that Philly was better tonight? It's embarrassing.
He had a bad year. The possibility that that, coupled with his having to stay behind an extra day in Boston in the hospital and possibly bad performances in practice led to it. The point is we don't know, and the idea that Belichick just suddenly lost his mind or (my personal favorite) just had to prove how arrogant he is is beyond stupid.
Not starting Butler was one thing. Perhaps that can be defended. However, not putting him in after getting embarrassed on drive after drive was inexcusable.
And no, i dont need to know what he did to make this call. It doesnt matter.
Everyone changes. Unless something really bizarre happened, BB's behavior is inconsistent and likely cost the Patriots, and Brady, a 6th superbowl. To all those who think that Belichick threw away a Super Bowl by not playing Butler, I suggest finding another team. Belichick had given up on Butler, as Butler told us. He certainly believed that starting Rowe was a better option for the team, and that Jones was a better nickel.
Personally, if that were the case, I still might have played him as a sub instead of Bademosi. But that choice was likely made in practice.
Beleichick won't change. After all, his methods have been shown to be so flawed. And those coaches chosen by him will follow his lead.
Well, not anymore.2010 Divisional match up vs the Jets was in my opinion, the worst blunder by Belichick in his coaching career.
Because there is strong reason to believe that our coach deliberately didn’t start the best team. This entire board right now sounds like it's originating from an insane asylum. I love it.
BB went from the GOAT to " The guy who lost a SB, because our above JAG, CB was kept out of the game"..
Everybody is to blame.
Nobody played, coached good enough.
They stunk... The trick plays were pathetic, missed FG's, X pts ... etc
They just lost.
No, I gave that as one possibility. The point is, YOU DON'T KNOW, and I'll trust the guy who's been coaching in the NFL for nearly 50 years and has SEVEN Super Bowl rings more than the people fly in here for a couple of years and are incredibly spoiled by success. So you agree that if he benched butler for no other reason than he thought it was the best move for the team to win, he's stupid?
I don't by the Belichick grudge conspiracy theories, but I think he needs to answer to why he waited until after warmups to decide that not playing Butler on Defense was the best option. If there was a good chance Butler wasn't going to start then he shouldn't have been getting reps in warmups it may have given others a chance to get things right.
If the reports are true, wtf.. Benching Butler for a quarter might make sense. Benching him for the whole game cost the Pats the superbowl. Used to be IBBIT. Not so sure anymore. Stupid ****ing decision if the reports are true.
