I’m reall not buying butler would’ve made that big of a difference, as much as I’d like to believe it
I don’t think it’s so much as he would’ve for sure been way better.

It’s the fact that they put Richards in ahead of him, someone who has never played competently at the professional level in any way shape or form.

Bill thought Butler was so bad to not even give him a chance to do anything better than that? I just can’t understand it.

As I stated before, this was not a SB quality defense. Just as with the 2011 team, the Patriots had a bad defense that was coached up well enough to stand against lesser teams, and buttressed enough by the ST and O that the weaknesses could be overcome.

Today, the defense faced an offense that didn't wet itself, and it didn't have the score or ST advantage to bail itself out.

They are really well coached. But phillys offense has so muchhhhhhh talent everywhere. To me the pats didn’t have much talent on the front 7 on their defense this year. They got pushed around quite a bit this year more than we’re accustomed to.despite what the stars may say the defenses in 2014 2015 and 2016 were better defenses

The Patriots always say they made just enough plays to win. Tonight the Eagles did.

Richards is awful. I think we can all agree on that. I cringed everytime I saw him on the field

NO THEY DID NOT. Richards played a sub package safety/lb. This has ZERO to do with Butler. He would have been on the field even if Butler played.

This game could have went on for 8 quarters and if the pats scored 100 points they still would have lost.

If not for the strip they win this game.

No question.

Enough has been written about the D already but the real disappointment tonight were ST. Overall might have been the worst of the three units.

I would talk about 4 units tonight. And I would slot the coaching unit very low among the 4

1.Offense

2. Special teams
3 (tie)Coaching/Defense

No he was not. He sat out one series.

I am sure it was his autism. Jesus..
Just a series? Sorry, forgot that. Thank you for strengthening my argument again.

Your autism comparison is almost as bad as your Jonas Gray comparison. If you've never noticed
sudden, significant behavioral and/or cognitive changes in folks over 60, you're either very sheltered, or have very low social awareness. Most likely, you have, but your bias disables you from seeing the potential in BB.

I'm not saying that's definitely what's going on, but if we're getting the whole story, which is very likely, there was a dramatic shift in BB's behavior at critical time. This wasn't a split second decision. There were many plays over which he could have chosen to put Butler in. Typically I would assume there was info that I didn't know that led to such a pattern of decision making, but Butler playing on ST invalidates any possibility I can think of.

The bridge I was referring to is old, but is in excellent condition. I can get you a great deal on it if you act soon.

Alan Branch essentially checking out for the entire season really was one of the biggest hits apart from Hightower's injury. Brown/Branch at peak shape would have been a great combo.

So who did we mostly see at CB tonight outside of Rowe/Gilmore? Bademosi? Not much better.

I think we really missed Jonathan Jones in this one too.

Great game, congrats to the Eagles. Knew this would be a close one, like all our SB are. For once we didn't get the breaks, and when you're in it against a really good team like the Eagles, that's all it takes sometimes.

I, like most, am mystified by what Jordan Richards was doing playing a critical role in the defense. The Eagles clearly targeted him to good effect, and I place a couple of drives on his shoulders for them not being able to get off the field on 3rd down. I can understand not playing Butler, they were looking for a larger group so that they could play the run and at the same time be competitive with the pass and so they felt Rowe was a better matchup. He seemed to play okay, it was the lack of ability to pressure Foles and our dearth of LB depth. Bademosi and others missed critical tackles that could have gotten them off the field.

I don't like whining about officiating, but to look at those two TD calls and not get one go our way was almost absurd given the standards they've set.

Anyway, c'est la vie, the other guys get paid too and for once we didn't end up on top at the end. I am well into the "gravy" phase of our dynasty and it's impossible to feel too badly about it.

The eagles basically started their version of Brian Hoyer. They are not a good team. We gagged. And Bill turned in the worst coaching performance in sports history.

Nothing BB did was out of character. So your entire argument is totally absurd.

Most probably one of the best 3-4 safeties in the league but whatever.

Good God, did you watch the game? He was invisible, unless you count he TDs he gave up. One of the best safeties in the league would have at least made one play.

Do they? Jeffrey didn't have 100 yards in any game this year after being frustratingly inconsistent his whole career, Agholor was on the verge of being cut this off-season, Torrey Smith is a one note player who hasn't even hit that note in years, Jay Ajayi wasn't wanted by the Dolphins, Clement is a UDFA, and we know Blount's foibles. Ertz is good but a step below Kelce, let alone Gronk.

The offensive line is certainly exceptional but otherwise this isn't the 2007 Patriots.

Chung covered Nelson A. - essentially CB3 much of time.
