The defense was not awful all year. Hyperbole about how bad the defense was is not any better than hyperbole about how good it was.

This was a defense on par with the 2011 defense, give or take a little. Neither were SB quality, but but both had the advantage of BB and TB to (almost) overcome the mediocrity.

The D was historically bad the first four games of the year. It did improve but the stink from the first four games never really left. This "bend not break" defense wasn't going to work all year. At some point they would break and this was the game. Hell they should have lost against the Jags had Brady not bailed them out.

Watching some of the gameplans Bill has come up with for SuperBowls I can't help but wonder if he isn't at least a tad overrated.

Seriously. What is this crap ?

If the players on the field dont execute because they miss tackles, dont play the right technique or misjudge deep passes what exactly should any coach do ?

It was neither scheme nor gameplan that killed us in this game but simply execution.

You must have watched a different game.

No, I didn't. Twelve points in a half to a defense who biggest weakness is your greatest strength is a joke.

My comparison is completely fine. Point is that if you do something that goes against the team rules whether it is being late to a practice, missing a flight or whatsoever there will be discipline. And it doesn't matter if we are playing the Browns or the friggin SB.

Again rules are rules and if Butler broke one he got his consequences.

And finally Richards had nothing to do with Butler. Nothing. He would have played his snaps either way. Rowe had an ok game except for his uncanny ability to misjudge jump balls.

If you want to make the argument that Butler makes the tackle that Bademosi missed.. be my guest.. that is a maybe.. but who knows what coverage we run if Butler were on field and if he ends up on the same Eagle player / if the Eagles run the same play..
Your comparisons are absolute ****, and it's hilarious if you think the Eagles would have scored 41 with Butler playing.

That bridge is still available if you're interested.

True, but the Patriots this year left a lot of points on the field in the first half. They need to improve there.

Neither offenses nor defenses are perfect, but the Patriots put up 12 in the first half, even with the missed PAT. If you want to question the play call of Cooks on that run, I'm on board with that. But saying that the offense was trash in the first half, which is what that poster said, just makes that poster's analysis worthless.

Retire Bill, you’ve gone full stupid. Did Butler dirty, did the entire organization dirty. This was on you bill, you ****ed the team good today. Wouldn’t be sad to see you go, not one bit.

Well to be fair he might have done Butler a solid.

All Butler's agent has to do is point to the SB as an example of what the Pats defense looks like with him not playing.

Our best defensive player tonight was a 39 year old James Harrison. That tells you all you need to know. This loss is on Patricia BB and the kicking unit. Brady and the entire offense played their hearts out. This really sucks but you can't win them all.

It was definitely Gilmore tonight.

I haven't seen one person credit Van Noy. Blount looked like LeVon Bell out there. He just couldn't be stopped.

Reports now are Gronk might not be back after this loss. Well, we don't need injury prone players, anyways. He either resigns for a lot less or we trade him for a better defensive player that can ACTUALLY make plays and draft another TE.

Brady has nothing to be ashamed off. BB and the Defense do though
Absolutely. He probably still should have gotten the MVP. Though Foles played awesome too.

But both defenses should be ashamed really. That was a really sad defensive performance overall. What, like 1,200 yards total?

Hope that doesn't become a trend.

Most of you guys are fortunate you live in New England. For those of us who live outside, it’s going to be a really really difficult day tomorrow.
F' em . I'll be wearing my gear.
I've had a few tolls already.
I just say "Congrats, I know how it feels, BELIEVE ME... Enjoy while you can, cuz it ain't EZ".
The Pats will be there again.

It was a very bad front 7, and that was compounded by whatever the hell has been going on with Butler for too much of the season. Had McClellin, Butler, Hightower and Branch been available and as expected (mostly Hightower, Butler and Branch), things would probably have been much different tonight.

But the Eagles had players missing, they didn't overthink their coaching, and they didn't bench their starting CB for the SB, so all credit to them.

Ghost better have his butt practicing by 11am tomorrow. No days off.

Who drafted or signed those players.

Wondering if that fits the narrative or not.

Crazy how the butler's career ended in New England. From hero to being benched by belichick in the most important game of the season. No way philly scores 41 points with butler playing. They would get some of those stops on 3rd down. The defensive game plan was very vanilla.

Wow. Granted he was having down year but still the second best CB on the team.
And Rowe getting beat like a rented mule on a few plays early lead to points. Rowe did recover nicely, but it's hard not to wonder about this call.

Losing to Nick Foles in a Super Bowl when you score 33 points is really really terrible.

There's no other way to say it, it's the biggest stain on the Brady/Belichick era by far.

It doesn't hurt as much as 18-1 but it's a much worse loss.

That is an insane claim.

Please point to any play he made tonight????

How many INTs this season?

He is a day late and a dollar short on every play.

Who would you have rather had tonight, Jenkins or McCourty???
