Inside the NFL stupidity at its best

Why is showtime hiring mass murderers like ray Lewis.

Is he best washed up defensive retread they could find?

The problem now is the narrative was "they cheated, durr!"

Then it became, "well maybe they didn't, but they are something amazing to watch".

Now, it's, "well, of course, they cheated, but they are the greatest dynasty anyway".

******** that has long been debunked (the Rams walkthrough) is being rehashed as straight fact. Whatever, they're idiots. I'm not wasting any more time on people like that. Just like I don't spend time trying to teach existential philosophy to the dog next door.
There's plenty of bullsh*t propaganda that is widely believed in this country, including this. The similarity to anti-Semitism in 1920's and 30's Germany is too striking to ignore; cheating accusations against the Patriots sprung up immediately when we won the 2002 AFCCG; one week after national outcries about the Tuck Rule. Goodell took the first tiny opportunity he got in 2007 to attempt to completely corroborate and legitimize all the cheating accusations from baby, loser, moron opponents that had racked up over the previous five years. He was wildly successful in this effort, met only acquiescence and unbridled worship from Kraft and was therefore empowered to repeat it in 2015.

Degradation of the Patriots has its origins in local Boston media, who had legitimate gripes with Billy Sullivan, but used it to exaggerate and magnify any hangnail regarding the team itself. National media went right along, and the NFL holdovers ravenously narrowed their corrupt, racist despicable denigration from the AFL in the sixties, to the Patriots after the merger.

The Packers, Steelers, Cowboys, and 49ers, to name four, had astronomically longer, more terrible stretches of total losing yet never were disparaged by the league and the media as the Patriots were. Coinciding with ownership's inevitable financial collapse, the team fell into a rebuilding stretch for four seasons after Raymond Berry released Doug Flutie before getting canned himself. This came after the Patriots had exactly one (1) losing season in the previous thirteen. Tagliabue, Goodell (yes he was there), Orthwein and the rest all bemoaned the Patriots as a "national disgrace" who "damaged the league" etc. etc.

National media today, of course, begins any and every sports-related program with "The New England Patriots are proven cheaters, cheaters cheaters cheaters; and now, coverage of third round play at Wimbledon..."

Prior to Goodell's first wet dream in '07, it was "they hate their coach" "they're lucky" "they're finished" "they're not that good" "they're classless" etc. etc. etc.

All of which in this century, when the Patriots have not only won, but done so without all the annoying, bush league, embarrassing arrogance, cheap shots, gimmicks and gloating exhibited by all the previous Super Bowl winners in the 80's and 90's.

The fact that the Patriots never cheated in any way, shape or form, but did suffer from not one but two stolen first round draft picks to put them at a clear competitive disadvantage, is never mentioned.

Welcome to Deutschland, circa 1938.

If Belichick had been more media-friendly in the past, the "cheating" garbage wouldn't be as bad as it is now. By BB's design, there was and is a narrative-vacuum around the Patriots, and since their constant winning forces them into the national spotlight, that vacuum was going to be filled, some way, some how.

The possibility of them cheating became the most interesting story to tell to those of us outside of the New England area, sadly. The fact that it is utter, embarrassingly obvious horses**t doesn't matter. This is only sports, people don't want to use their brains.

He may be brusque, but he shows so much class so constantly and it gets completely unrecognized by these buffoon ****ing sportscasters.

Nope. No good, dirty, steroid eating, dope smoking cheating unicorns

Second time in the last week or two I've seen someone compare Deflategate to the Holocaust here...

Ray Lewis cheated being guilty

Eh, I've seen worse than Ray Lewis on that show. Phil Simms is like a confused old man who thinks RPO is some crazy new hip lingo and that Alan Branch has been a key guy in the middle for the Pats lately.

Yet Phil has been a staunch defender of the Patriots defense during the 2nd half of the season.

I just read a long ESPN Barnwell article and other than Trey Flowers are defensive line barely got a mention.

But he’s a LOT easier to listen to than Ray (I think I’m great) Lewis

If I saw Ray in an airport, I wouldn’t even acknowledge him

Just avoid Deadspin if you are a Pats fan. They have been clickbaiting and trolling for years. Really pointless to even get worked up about it.

Yeah I got banned from commenting on there for pointing that out a lot. I got over it shortly after Deflategate died down, I think.

My favorite was still this one, posted right after we beat the Falcons.

That's all they could desperately cling to after their hater souls were just destroyed by the GOAT. It is the saltiest thing I've ever seen. I still read it from time to time for the joy of their tears.
