Uh...in SB 49 the mismanagement of the clock was the 40 seconds the Seahawks dithered away before the int expecting Belichick to call a TO he had no intention of calling. That refusal on Belichick's part to call a timeout to preserve the time for Brady would have been labeled a failure by you had the Pats lost but it was actually brilliant since it put all the pressure on Seattle and forced them into the pass that was ultimately intercepted. Perspective is everything.

I made this point earlier, but BB would've been crucified had Seattle scored and no TO was called. Let's say Seattle gets a TD with 20 seconds left. By the time the kickoff occurs, Brady would've been left with like 15 seconds to get a FG at minimum. Not impossible, but highly unlikely. BB had faith that Seattle's mismanagement & that his goal line D would rise to the occasion. He didn't want to call a timeoutand let them off the hook.

I remember at the time I was one of many screaming "TIMEOUT TIMEOUT WHY THE HELL AREN"T THEY CALLING A TIMEOUT??!!" Then suddenly it dawned on me, Seattle may have had 3 downs to go but only one timeout meaning they couldn't run on both 2nd & 3rd with the clock winding down and the clock was our friend at that point not theirs. Then I started yelling "NO TIMEOUT" and everyone looked at me like I was crazy...lol
