Pats should continue to own AFC for few more years

at least..

AFC is hot garbage. What do we got out there now? Jags maybe coming up? Steelers? It is like the AFC is ill and we still very well.

We may just be getting on a roll now.
Good thoughts, Shank...

Look at the likely Super Bowl starters for the Patriots. How many aren't under contract next year?

2 I think. LT Solder and CB M. Butler.

And we get Hightower, Edelman, Mitchell back.

Not to mention hopefully Hogan doesn't miss half the season and have to play with one shoulder. Which really hurts considering the other WR injuries.

And the only position I would be worried about getting old in is safety.

Pats looking good.

Well the cap keeps going up. My only concern's some age with the wrs. I believe dion lewis's a free agent as well. I am sure we can free up some cap space by cutting some contracts.

In terms of a team improving enough to be a real threat by getting well at the QB position I'd be more concerned with the Jags, Bills or Broncos landing Alex Smith than impoverishing themselves with Cousins. Wherever Cousins lands someone is going to be backing up the money truck enough to hurt themselves elsewhere for a good but not great QB. Eli isn't coming to the AFC, there's no way from a PR standpoint the Giants can afford to move him. With a healthy Watson Houston will be back in the mix. Who knows what's going to happen with Luck & Indy? I just can't take the Raiders, TN or any team in the AFCN seriously. The Chargers are the Chargers, never as good as we think they should be and the Chiefs still have Andy (can't win a big one) Reid.

I think you are selling some other teams short that could improve with better coaching and some luck. Chargers, Raiders, Broncos, Titans, Jags, Texans, Colts, KC, Bills, as a matter of fact, except for Cleveland everybody has a chance to make a jump. We do have a young team except at QB and should sustain a competitive team as long as we have BB.

Broncos with Cousins makes too much sense not to happen, and that puts them back in play.
they are going to be horrible, COusins or not. Looks like a rebuild too, letting high cost players walk. They might even ask Miller to restructure which I don't think he will will like. I see no better than 5-11 again for Donks.

the “cap going up” thingy may be true but it is also a very dangerous thing to rely on in justifying why a team in cap hell right now with a qb problem and holes all over a roster, where it can put themselves in even
more trouble, really quick.

just saying

I thin
Steelers are currently $2.5M over the cap for 2018 and that's without Bell. They're going to have to make some changes.

I think the Ravens know, they just ****ed themselves with the contract extensions and are stuck with him. They couldn't cut him this year without getting hit with a ridiculous $53M in dead money. Even next year, that's still $28M so they can't really do much other than wait for that deal to pass on and hope Flacco doesn't suck as much.
I think Steelers will slip back some. We may need to beat them in the Divisional next year. I'm not seeing our big threat in AFC next year. Jax looked tough as hell but are they going to learn and grow or just fade away.

Derek Rivers back too maybe?

we will be competetive.
"competitive".. tried not to laugh when I read that.

The coordinaters "could" hurt if there was any real competition in the AFC like back in 2005 there was. AFC was jacked in 2005, even the Jets and Dolphins were not layups back then, and the Bills beat us 31-0 one year.

There is nothing in the AFC to stop the Pats if they just do their thing, I think for the next several years..

Jags with Cousins or even Alex Smith would be a brutally tough team. I expect the disfunctional Steelers to be 12-4 or better so still a very talented and dangerous team. The Vegas over/under for Pats wins next year is 12 so we're gonna be right back in the mix. Let's hope the Pats are gunning for four outta five!!!

Chargers, Raiders, Broncos, Titans, Jags, Texans, Colts, KC, Bills

Chargers - doubtful
Raiders - new coach been out for 10 years.. even if he turns things around it won't be year one with new coach
Broncos - Dumpster Fire next year
Titans - New coach, Vrabel not expereinced enough, think they take a step back.
Jags - Maybe, looked tough as nails. But are they a one year wonder?
Texans - maybe, young QB, big injury last year. Don't see them as a threat to the PATS for sure. Maybe to some other teams
Colts - LMAO even with McDaniels. I bet Josh starts Jacoby
KC- Reid? and probably a first year QB (though I like him) Not a threat to win AFC
Bills - if they get Alex Smith I could see them being 10 or 11 win team. The only way I consider them a threat is if we somehow have to fight for the Division, very unlikely and honsetly I put that on the Pats.. they need to get 12 wins every year, garanteeing they won't be a wild card.

Hmmm, I dont see this particular Jags team fading away any time soon. Way too much talent. They are going to me a major contender for the foreseeable future. I believe they proved that with their games against the Steelers, Seahawks, and Pats this year. A very strong and young team.

yep. if they buy cousins at 25 mil per, talib is gone and so is emmanuel sanders, etc
Cousins just "solid, and a little better than good imo" and that team will be hamstring for years.. I would get a best available young QB on rookie deal and retool that team and develop the QB. Lynch sucked can't believe he was a first rounder. The other kid was like 7th round so I don't judge him too harsh.

Well maybe Jax are the guys. Strong leadership and Belichick loves their coach, not going to question him. It could be them. But I'll take that.

Here is the fact, the Pats are going to be the favorite to win the AFC the rest of Brady's career (provided Belichick remains through it)

The schedule looks very tough. I wonder if bill would bring back talib if butler's gone. He's gonna be 32 but he can still play pretty well.

I think they're still a major contender with Blake Bortles, proved it this year, no? I dont know if Bortles can win them a ring but they will be right back in the mix. I think Cousins might thrive on the right team. Get him off of the disfunctional Redskins and see what he can do. Alex Smith is the most interesting one because if KC moves on from him they might be worse and I see Smith as a major upgrade to the Bills or any number of teams.

Perhaps bring back Talib and sign Earl Thomas. 14-2.
