The Eagles underdog thing is funny to me....seems like a lot of the mediots think the Pats are going down and not in a close one.

A big question is which nick foles shows up. Just a week ago against atlanta people were saying how limited the Eagles offense/foles was. Now he was a monster against the vikings and hes this scary QB.

Props to the great game he had against the vikings. but it is more likely he is THAT player, or the checkdown artist he was against Atlanta.

Props to the great game he had against the vikings. but it is more likely he is THAT player, or the checkdown artist he was against Atlanta.

Well bortles looked like a stud in the first half before the pats made adjustments. I hope we can come out from the start and play well on defense.

Everyone seems to be soiling themselves over this run pass option schitt...isn't it as simple as winning defensively on 1st and 2d down to remove the run option? Are they gonna run that ****ing thing on 3d and 8?

This makes me feel pretty good, because part of what made the Jags so effective vs. the pats is not only their front 4, but the fact they had a real good secondary that could blanket receivers and fast linebackers that could shut down the quick passes to the running backs.

I think the Eagles have a good defense, but I think its the kind of defense Brady tends to shred. Without pressure they are average in coverage. They don't have the horses to play man especially with Gronk in the game.

People talk about Philly rotating players on their D-Line. We play at such a high pace that it's really going to be difficult for Philly to rotate 7 guys. I think we'll be able to move the ball.

If we played at this speed in 07, there's no doubt in my mind we crush the Giants in the SB.

I'm sure most board regulars have dissected this game numerous times, including myself. So many different ways things could have or should have gone differently. I feel this game was like Super Bowl 3 between the Colts and Jets...99 out of 100 times the Colts would win decisively, and the Patriots should have won decisively 99 out of 100 times versus the Giants. One HUGE factor in the first Giants Super Bowl is the sprained foot that Brady suffered in the AFC conference championship game versus San Diego. His mobility was severely limited, and his ability to effectively slide up and around the pocket was virtually non-existent. He was a sitting duck for the Giants and he knew it. I knew it when Strahan sacked him on either the Patriots first or second possession (I forget). I attribute the sprained foot more to that Super Bowl loss more than any other thing that happened in that game.
Sorry for the rant, but the Brady foot sprain and the Gronk ankle injury are the main factors in my mind for why the bastard Giants beat the Patriots those two times...

Its severely overrated.
Basically its a run play, with the QB having the choice of turning into a play action pass. Its football. Just like anything a little new and different people are acting like its revolutionary. Its not.

To me, when I have looked back at that game, the thing that stands out to me was that there were numerous times, in the teens, where Brady had a play, and he was hit while in the throwing motion sending the ball off target. The sacks weren't the game, in fact, this offense is the best in history at converting first downs after early down sacks or penalties put them in a hole (see 3rd and 18 to amendola last Sunday) and in most cases 3rd down sacks we allow are coverage sacks and Brady chooses to take it rather than throw into danger.
In the secondary in that SB we had a 30 point game, and if Brady had a split second longer to throw without being shoved during the pass, we would have romped.

BB praised the hell out of Fletcher Cox. I expect him to be invisible in the game now. Can't believe this is the last game of the season and we are in the SuperBowl again! Its been so good that I am surprised we didn't make it in 09, 10, 11, 12, 13.
